read this in an Australian accent so it sounds more sus

"Dave, we'd LIKE to implement goodie bags, but we don't have enough people to do it."
"Dave, we WISH we could fix the Discord linking bot, but we don't have someone who has time to do it."

Hmm, you know what would be a good idea?

Applying for Developer.

It's common sense. If you want more developers to do work, hire some here on the website. In the applications tab, there should be a new section for young developers to apply. You'd be surprised how many people actually know how to code here on this server. So I'm thinking we can leave the developer section on the applications tab. If people apply, good! We have developers. If not, so what? Leave the developer section there. Maybe in a few months someone might come along and decide to apply.

Leave your thoughts below. I'm interested to see what you think, and I think this is the pretty obvious fix for most of our issues.

if you read this in an Australian accent thanks

Yeah, I think this makes sense. They can't just take skilled Moderators who happen to know how to code... moderating the server and keeping party poopers out is a much different job than coding games. I wouldn't apply because I don't really know how to code games, but I think this is a good idea.

"Developer
Staff rank that is responsible for the technical issues of the network
Obtainable by contacting the owner"

Source: this guide thread here

An application would be nice, but there would need to be some way to verify anything about skill is true, this can be done with a project submission, but.. I don't know how helpful it really would be

Scenario questions, like the ones In moderation team applicatons. Like "how would you implement a currency system" or something like that, just to show they know to code. Also it couldn't hurt to send a few projects to Gaurav to see if you have the ability.

I love this idea, I certainly believe it would encourage developers to apply, consequently PartyZone would gain more developers and the network could improve.

I’m assuming before promoting someone to developer Gaurav tests their development skills somehow; most likely by trialing their knowledge in a ‘trial code’ or something similar.

If an application is accepted Gaurav can simply test their knowledge in the same way.

i love this suggestion!! there are so many suggestions submitted on forums and they can't be implemented/would take a long time because there aren't many developers and they have a lot to do.

and agreeing with Lilli, gaurav'll probably test an applicants skill beforehand with some type of trial.

honestly, there really isn't anything bad with this suggestion. +100 from me

This actually used to exist, I can't remember when it got removed/why. It's easier to just message Gaurav and talk/discuss to him directly through Discord PMs than applications piling up that he'd have to check anyway.
Not a lot of people know they have to message him to talk about it. Almost no one reads the rank info simply because there's no need to. If Developer is a rank you have to apply for, it should be in the applications tab. That's the whole purpose of the tab, so all of the application forms can be found in one place. Developer doesn't have to be any different.

Originally I didn't agree with this thread simply because players who would like to apply can direct message Gaurav, but after reviewing the suggestion and looking into it I believe this should be implemented. I definitely think it would encourage players to apply and it could benefit the network in the long run.

As we all know, there was an announcement recently made explaining why projects are taking longer than anticipated. I personally believe by implementing this, we could halve the time it takes for projects to be completed with additional members on the team.

Despite the counterclaim being that said players can direct message Gaurav, I think for the time being as we desperately need more developers on the team, that it would be ideal at least for now to have a proper, professional application for developers. If Gaurav feels like they are worthy, he can simply message them regarding their application and continue further development and assessment with the applicant.

I will be voting +1, but if there any major points that are made contrasting this suggestion I may reconsider my vote.

Seeing as there did use to be a developers application anyway, I see no reason why it shouldn't be implemented. If the server is looking for developers having an application would be easy to do.

I like the idea of this considering Im going to be taking coding classes and would like to apply to help pz out in the future, but it would be very hard to prove that people can actually do what they say they can. I do like the idea but its certainly something to think about. (o:

If this suggestion were to be implemented, it would greatly improve PartyZone in chances of more developers which can improve update release dates, minigames, etc. It'd also encourage players to apply as Cat said above previously. Personally, I'd love to see this suggestion be implemented. +1

In about Sep 18th 2016 it was taken down as I was interested and still am interested in joining the dev team. Sadly right now life is just complex and don't have time for that. Hopefully next year.

The information given to me by a now retired mod said that the applications from people were from non devs. The application provided no worthy applicants.

Personally I would love to see this mainly because it's more logical. Later this year when I go over the language and functions of minecraft again I would hope this becomes a option. Currently as said by many just contacting the owner through pm is a way to apply, instead the application could go to the owner through a google doc and such. It is more effective and noticed.

For the questions it could be how to set up a if statement for blah blah or a switch. As well maybe a place for past projects. I would assume before the player is made a dev or Jrdev- was a thing for applicants I believe- the owner or whomever would test them would give them a project to program. Not certain if there is a server manager positions as NobleProductions and Kirstree have that position. By server manager I mean managing the uptime and downtime of the server and the running of it. These positions could also mean managing the server's people and systems of the server but not certain for this.

Just a note- the questions before I forget actual ones but remember they were not that great in quality or quantity I can definitively say. Something about world error chunks or file data I completely forget the specifics.
