Murder Detective Foot Prints

Alrighty, so stick with me here... (This may have been suggested before, although I'm putting fresh eyes on it).


Okie! Anyway, I was thinking earlier, and I noticed... What really is the point of Detective, yeah yeah, I get they get the gun, but they have no other perks, and give the game not even 2 minutes, almost every innocent will have a gun.

What I was thinking, was when the murder killed someone, the Detective would be able to look at the body, and see the murderers foot prints, which they'd be red, (only for a few blocks so it's not extremely op) s/he would be able to see which direction the murderer went. I posted this in the discord, to get some ideas, and someone said that they should have a magnifying glass, (which the detective would have to use a cretin amount of emeralds), and they'd be able to purchase a 1 use magnifying glass..


Hopefully that made sense.. I'm trying to think of ways to be excited to be the Detective, and an actual reason to have a Detective, as they're here to detect. ;)

It'd just be as the Murderer sees the footprints, the detective will still be able to see their full screen, aswell as being able to switch to their gun.
 
I thought you meant like a bird's eye view on it
 
I like this suggestion, it adds to the Bystander with a Secret weapon role and makes it more of a Detective persona. I agree that the current role does not have many perks and adding this perk could increase activity and increase the likability of the role.

Blood stains might be more difficult to implement as they require a texture and don't use the same code as footprints which would be fairly simple to implement. However, that sounds like a cool add-on and if it isn't too difficult, it would be nice to see it happen!
 
I genuinely love the sound of this idea. It adds something new and somewhat simple to the detectives role, which makes the game more intriguing for the player in that position. Lovely suggestion, +1!

I like this idea, however this will only be useful if the bystander they inspect was recently killed, wouldn’t it be better if the detective saw all footprints like the murderer but they were shorter, like 5-10 blocks?

Not a bad idea, although I was thinking the Murderers foot-prints to be red, as blood, so even if the bystander was killed recently, or the start of the match, the detective will still be able to see the foot-prints.

Even if they were red it would still only be useful if used after the bystander was killed as the murderer will probably be on the other side of the map if it was used too late afterwards.

It should probably be 3 - 5 emeralds as that is how much the murderer needs to switch identity and/or buy another knife.

Anyways, I really like this idea and I personally think it would be a nice perk for detective. +1

What does a magnifying glass do?
I assume you would buy the magnifying glass and then it will show the footprints. I mean like, it won't help much on old bodies since, ya know, the murderer would've ran away but yea..

I REALLY REALLY like this idea! It sounds neat but just for extra detailed update they should make it so that the murderer is warned if the detective is looking at a body with the magnifiying glass if it is going to actually work. The more you upgrade your magnifiing glass in the shop, the less percentage of having the murder getting warned about it. Thanks for the suggestion <3 I really like it.
