This is based off of tower defense...
its a 1v1 kinda game unless it would work with 4 or more players.
Singleplayer option as well... like a wave system or computer that plays against you...
Many worlds (game maps) have been created like this...I don't have a clear idea of what it will end up looking like yet here I go...
The general concept is that you or a team is against another player or team(s) and mobs are sent to the player directly or through a tube that needs to be defended.
I don't know the best idea of how to do this but The details section shows the ways I have though of.
Possible details:
Every time a mob slips through one of your teamates or yourself loses a heart. Once all your hearts are gone you lose.
Once the mob slips through you are attacked by the mob.
Some mobs have certain effects when slipping through such as blindness or slowness.
Getting mobs over there requires resources... you go into the mines and collect gold and sometimes blocks or special ores. As well unlucky ores such as less money for a ore or a effect is give by the ore. I suggest the mine work by regenerating the ore is a certain area by block or by the ingot.
Special mobs are created that have extra things such as armor, and stuffs.
upgrades from coins could be... chance of getting twice the amount of gold than normal in the mine. Special mobs are unlocked, or just cosmetics and stuff.

anyways this concept is not really detailed yet gives a good view of it. I think it would be fun how ever it works out.
