What's going on?
I've been seeing a lot of arguing and fuss over credit to builders and who made what, and I didn't think much of it until I saw something on another server. I will the leave the server unnamed, but the example may give it away.
How can we fix it?
I was thinking maybe the crediting could be something like this.
It credits the entire team, and makes the individuals known. So rather than the simple Team Aptum sign, maybe it could be Team Aptum, and then the skulls of the individuals plus a possibly customized sign by the individual.
Where is this needed?
I've noticed a lack of building credit in the spawn, and in every other team building effort on Partyzone. There is the admin and developer hall in spawn, but there is no builder credit anywhere. I would think that this would be an essential part of a spawn and any other build, after all, people want to know who made such a beautiful creation!
Why is this important?
Not crediting can be very risky when it comes to a public Minecraft server or any other business. If a company receives a complaint from a person claiming lack of credit with sufficient evidence of the offense, the business could be shut down or receive severe penalties such as fines or termination. In Partyzone's case, the server could get shut down for violating Mojang's EULA, or the agreement that every player on Minecraft is affected by.
I don't want to seem harsh, I'm just saying that crediting is essential if you want to maintain a good standing with both Mojang and the players/builders.
Quick Edit: Since I've been seeing things about the EULA, directly, no, the EULA does not state that you must have credit, however, it does say this;
'If you are going to make something available on or through our Game, it must not be offensive to people or illegal, it must be honest, and it must be your own creation. Some examples of the types of things you must not make available using our Game include: posts that include racist or homophobic language; posts that are bullying or trolling; posts that are offensive or that damage our or another person's reputation; posts that include p*** or someone else's creation or image; or posts that impersonate a moderator or try to trick or exploit people.
Any content you make available on our Game must also be your creation or you must have permission or the legal right to do it. You must not and you agree that you will not make any content available, using the Game that infringes the rights of others.
We reserve the right to take down any content in our discretion.'
No, it does not say that you must give credit, but it does state that you must have the rights to the build, in which case, improper credit could end up being disastrous.
