Skywars is probably one of the most popular gamemodes on MC, it was pretty popular on PZ as well. However, it had a lot of issues, gameplay-wise and issues with hackers almost everywhere. So I'm gonna add some suggestions on how to improve Skywars.
1. Make the games longer. Minecraft is usually played by young kids who have a lot of time on their hands. They like gamemodes that they can sink time into and yet still be engaged. Like Creative. A game of skywars would usually last about, 7-10 minutes? 5 if there's a hacker. It was over way too fast because essentially all it was was a race to the middle island. Whoever looted and got to the middle island first automatically won because of how overpowered all the items in the chests were.
Basically, lower the amount of completely overpowered items in the middle chests. You can keep golden apples, potions, some enchanted armor, etc, in the chests, but have the rare items able to spawn in regular chests as well. Just at a lower rate and lower quantity. Or, introduce a timed chest. A chest in the middle that has a timer and opens every 2-3 minutes and has a random set of items. Then have some regular chests scattered around the middle with some less powerful items.
If you were to keep the middle chests the same, add more islands, a bigger map, and a higher player count so there can be more players to fight and the game won't be over as fast.
2. The massive hacker problem SW faced will dwindle because of the introduction of SARAH, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
3. Adding in some more cosmetics to the store. Death sounds, arrow trails, join messages, etc. Just some purely cosmetic choices. Rank exclusive ones as well of course.
4. Non-overpowered powerups. Such as a bridgebuilder but it doesn't build all the way to middle. Or a fireball that can destroy paths but not blow up islands.
5. Implementing in the Skywars leaderboard and rewards.
6. Implementing Partyzone exlcusive titles depending on the number of points, or your "rank" in Skywars.
