I have wanted to write a story which I can find inspiration for, and I believe I have come close to finding it. I would love to write more, and I feel this may be a good exercise that people can participate in and enjoy!

Spoiler: Explanation

Beyond Boundaries takes place during the war referred as "Guasto" in the story. It focuses on two large and immensely wealthy towns, "Acidity" and "Alkali". The Guasto war has majorly effected these towns, and has caused immense fear and destruction within the community. Buildings, wildlife and human beings themselves have been harmed mentally and physically, and have been tormented by the cruel world. In retaliation and attempt to protect the people, walls were built around the towns to protect them from trespassers and and the unknown. The people agreed with the new security, without a second glance, as they had lost faith in the outside world. Both towns go through similar troubles, but overtime you discover there's a few difference between the two in terms of the difficulties they faced.
As the years progressed, many rebelled against the new method of security. Complaints came around, about trapping those who wished to be free and move on to better things. Those who were younger fought to be free, as they had never gotten to experience the real world, something most people deserved to experience. Despite the efforts to entertain many and provide income for those stuck in the walls, people grew bored of the repetitive events and high-dependency on technology. People wanted to go beyond this artificial life, beyond the town walls to be free.
Unfortunately, war lingers beyond the walls, creating great risk to those who ventured outside. As time goes on, it is realized that this more than a journey beyond town walls, but a journey to reality and it's harsh truths that come along with it.

If you like the sound of that, consider signing up for the story! I'd love to have some original and a variety of different characters! I will be using around 10-15 characters, depending on how many people sign up.

Full name: Castillo Violeta Fuerte
Age (16-20): 17
Appearance: Castillo stands at 5'0, and has a frail looking body. She's tan, and has dark circles under her big, almond shaped eyes. Her hair is short, and messy. She has multiple scars on her body, mostly on her face. She really doesn't have a lot of muscle, it's like she's skin and bones. Her eyes are a dull grey, and her hair is dark brown. She usually wears a black long sleeved dress, which goes a bit past her knees. Though she's mostly seen bare-footed, she does sometimes wear black shoes. She also has a cut on her lip.
Personality: She's too kind, and selfless. She does look poor, but has very high vocabulary, and is extremely intelligent. She's skittish, and gullible. She is sensitive and usually takes everything too harshly. She has tons of trust issues, and would rather be in the background. She's doggedly loyal to those who become her friends. She falls in love too easily.
Backstory: She was originally born to a family of criminals, who treated her like she was lesser than dirt. They rarely fed her, and constantly abused her, to the point where she completely broke. For a long time, she felt numb and dead inside, until one day, a young man had offered her money. She stopped believing that everyone was the same, and strives to be a better person than her parents were. Her parents didn't like the fact that she was strong-willed, so they kicked her out, now she lives with a boy her age, named Clarence.
Strengths: She's incredibly intelligent, and agile. It's like she can run and run for days. She's very good at comforting people.
Weaknesses: She has asthma, and is fragile. She doesn't have much muscle, so combat isn't her thing. She cannot do things under tons of pressure.
Expertise: Crafting.
Insecurities: She's insecure about her body, and her scars.

Full name: Dillan Houser
Age (16-20): 18
Appearance: Dillan is tall and muscular. He has thick, dark brown hair that is shaved on the sides and has a wavy top that almost reaches his eyes. Speaking of his eyes, they are a piercing emerald green. His lips are almost always chapped, and he has a sharp jawline.
Personality: Dillan is protective and strategic. He organizes thorough plans and guides everyone skillfully to success. He is ambitious, determined, and creative. Dillan is clever, witty, and a big realist. He is known for his brutal honesty, and his altruism. You can tell he genuinely cares deeply for the well-being of everyone, and tries to include all. Dillan is incredibly observant, and can be seen searching strangers’ faces, trying to see the emotions hidden in their eyes and the facial expression they try to mask. His love runs deep and never ceases till his final breath. He will also willingly sacrifice himself for the greater good.
Backstory: Dillan has 2 younger brothers, Joseph and Wolf. His parents were well respected throughout the city and they had high standards for their children. They tried their best to be caring, they reslly did, but it was not their speciality. They were at work a lot, and tended to not understand Dillan’s perspective of things. He got good grades in school, and did wrestling and soccer through middle and high school.

Full name: Lambert Omysha {Though usually goes by "Lamb"}
Age (16-20): 17
Appearance: He has incredibly fluffy and curly white hair, and he has pale skin. He has freckles all over his cheeks and nose. He is always seen wearing a black mask with bold white 'MUTE' on it, and he has a emerald green eye and a bright light yellow eye. He is almost always wearing dark colors to help him blend into the darkness so he isn't noticed, he mainly wears black hoodies, black jeans, and a half green and half yellow snowflake hair pin in his hair. He tries his best to blend into the background, but because of his rare eyes and unusual hair he is normally seen anyways. He's short, at 4'8.
Personality: He is often found observing people. When he is unsure of someone he will watch them for a bit before encountering them. He's very caring and forgiving, Lamb is as sweet as honey and opens his heart up to all people. He is normally labeled as not a threat because of his weak and feminine/cute appearance, which give him the upper hand in fights because the enemy won't expect much from him. He's rather mysterious and secretive, and he doesn't stay standing still for long. He's almost always moving, whether it's swinging from tree to tree, climbing walls, or just climbing obstacles. he doesn't get mad easily but if you hurt someone he cares about he'll get hostile without even realizing that he's about to hurt somebody. He's artsy and loves drawing, he's also observant and scans his surroundings during situations to figure out the best course of action. In situations when he needs to focus, he calms his mind and focuses on thinking about what he needs to do and how to do it successfully. He's quite intelligent and has a sharp eye, it's very hard to slip something past him unless he's being distracted by a more important matter. He is often mentally abusing himself, this has something to do with his backstory and how his siblings treated him. He has a very strong case of Scopophobia, the fear of being looked at. When being stared at, his expression will switch instantly to a terrified face and he will claw into his arms. He shuts down and his mind fills with the nickname 'Black Sheep' when stared at, this nickname will cause him to try to hide or run away to avoid the eyes glare. After this situation happens, he doesn't hesitate too much to explain what his siblings did and the nickname they gave him, he doesn't feel like it's something to hide.
Backstory: Lambert was born in a family of 5 children. His mother and father raised them, but while his other siblings were popular for looking innocent and adorable, he was always hiding behind his parents. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Their names were Alexander and Alec {Twins}, Sahara, and Nora. His siblings were all mean to him, they often called him names when others weren't around. They gave him the nickname "Black Sheep" as an insult to how he didn't fit in. Sometimes at school his siblings would give him bruises and cuts. When they were around others, they acted innocent and often lied that Lambert was being mean to them in order to get him in trouble. When he was 10 {Alec and Alex were 14, Sahara was 12 and Nora was 11} his siblings convinced his parents to let them put on a play in front of the town. Lambert was actually excited for the play, and his siblings gave him the lead role. However, when the time came and Lambert went on stage, his siblings prepared a rope for him to trip over, then when he was down they dropped a bucket of water on him, and the bucket hit his head. The whole town laughed at him, and his siblings were offstage so he'd be the only one stared at. Lambert was frozen with fear in this moment and tears ran down his face like a river, his face showed pure terror. This gave Lambert the fear of being looked at, and by the age of 15 Lambert's parents died in a car crash, leaving him by himself. He got a job from a nice old lady who took him in till he was old enough to fend for himself in the world. However, ever since all the horrible things his siblings did to him, he's been mentally abusing himself, and sometimes he claws at his skin if looked at by multiple people at once.
Strengths: His best strength is agility, he is unbelievably agile and swift. He is good at gymnastics, specifically the bars. Due to his talent with gymnastics places with many walls, obstacles, or bars for him to climb / maneuver around are perfect for him, as it gives him a large upper hand.
Weaknesses: Being stared at is his worst weakness, though it doesn't physically affect him it hurts him mentally. He also hates being alone at nighttime or being alone in the dark. Nighttime is his least favorite time, he feels more vulnerable and scared at this time and will often try to stay close to other people at this time. If he's scared enough, he might even hug the person or hide behind them.
Expertise: Gymnastics and bars. {He can swing on anything flawlessly, it's almost as if he knows the perfect height and perfect time to grab the bars and to jump off them.}
Insecurities: He's afraid he'll never be able to fit in anywhere. He's afraid that he'll never learn to trust somebody again because of all his mental scars.
Rebel or simple citizen?: Rebel. {If possible, could he have been like a slave / prisoner then he escaped with cuts and/or bruises on him?}
Additional Comments: This story plot sounds awesome, good luck with it! Also Lambert is Gay. :p {I know this probably isn't going to be romance at all, but I wanted to add it anyways~}


EDIT: I forgot to mention, but he's mute. He can talk, but rarely does unless it's a emergency or he feels he needs to tell someone something.

 

[Slimez]

Full name: Sayden Dusk
Age (16-20): 16
Appearance: Aqua blue eyes, perfectly combed short black hair, and usually wears a black jacket, a white shirt, grey jeans and brown shoes. He has pale skin, is about 5'8, and has a large scar on the face, going from the top left of his face, across his nose
Personality: Sayden is an observer. He studies, and goes around the town observing stuff. He likes being alone and barely talks. He now pretty much knows everybody's comings and goings, and what they all like.
Backstory: Sayden was born to a family of 6, where he was the youngest. They were all happy, until their parents died in a car crash. Sayden and his older sister were in the card, and Sayden cried out: 'Look, a pretty bird!' His parents both looked... and BOOM. Sayden changed to who he is now because his siblings blamed him for their deaths. He left at age 12 and was adopted by two nicer parents, Mr & Mrs Dusk.
Strengths: He knows most things about everyone in the town, and is extremely smart (his IQ is 143), and he can hold in almost any argument.
Weaknesses: He's not physically strong, and holds grudges.
Expertise: Intellectual stuff
Insecurities: He is terrified of his last family returning.
Rebel or simple citizen?: Rebel, but everybody thinks he's a citizen cause he hasn't done anything. However, he's just gathering information on everyone.
Additional Comments: He has a very British accent, and is often pushing his hair from his face.

Full name: Konton Kuro
Age (16-20): 17
Appearance: He has coal black shaggy hair which is medium length. He has a small nose and his ears are slicked back. If you were to look closely at his face you would be able to see a scar in a perfect vertical line over his left eye. Konton is about 6'0ft and has a slender build with small muscles which help to convince people that he is weak even though he is actually quite strong. He wears a loose black and grey checkered button up jacket over a black muscle fit t-shirt. He wears black skinny jeans accompanied by black Adidas trainers.
Personality: Konton has a dark sense of humour and enjoys the pain of others, mostly when he causes it. He will go out of his way to spite people with cruel remarks. Konton has a large vocabulary of words and he's very smart, although he acts dumb so that he doesn't ruin his credit. Konton is a very proud person and will always defend his name, and win. He is somewhat of a natural leader and has a strong hatred of the walls.
Backstory: After Konton had been born his parents soon left him to die after visiting a seer who said Konton would end up being a dark leader. They left Konton in the middle of an alley when he was 1 month old. Lucky for him a group of rebels found him and took him under their wing. As Konton grew up with the group he mastered the art of stealth and assassination earning his 100th kill at 7 years old. When Konton was 15 the leader of the group passed and it was up to Konton to fill his place becoming the leader of the gang. Konton lead the group through several missions until he stepped down at the age of 16&1/2 to follow his heart. Konton used to be a very charismatic young man but became bitter after his lovers death. Since then Konton has ruined around alone with it and company acting recklessly on his intuitions.
Strengths: leading, throwing, sniping, intimidating, climbing and free running.
Weaknesses: He doesn't every follow orders only his own intuition.
Expertise: Ranged fighting.
Insecurities: Non really Konton is one over confident man

Personality: Alex is nice but can come off as rude and snarky. He's sassy and stubborn. He's creative, artistic, clever and sometimes adventurous. He thinks he is a born leader, but he's really not. He loves taking control and bossing people around. He is very trusting and usually picks up the wrong crowd. He is also a pathological liar (and is extremely good at it). He never breaks a sweat when he lies. He is a sassy and sarcastic little beano

Strengths: Extremely good pathological liar. Using any sort of melee weapon (Knives, daggers, swords, etc.)
Weaknesses: He thinks he is a born leader. Often trusts the wrong people, and sees them in a false light. Can be "too honest". He sometimes puts people down, instead of bringing them up.Using any sort of long-range weapon or throwable weapon (Bows, boomerangs, guns, etc.)

Full name: Kiro Nakamura
Age (16-20): 17
Appearance: He always wears all black clothing, he has black hair and brown eyes. He has a scar running under his left eye. He always wears a mask to cover his mouth and nose. He also always carries two swords, the longer sword runs diagonally on his back, and the shorter runs just above the back of his waist.
Personality: He doesn't talk at all, except for whenever he needs to tell something to someone, or he's answering a question. He's pretty introverted, but he's quite brave and very protective of his friends.
Backstory: In the Guasto war, he lost many things in his life. He saw his father stabbed in the gut, and his own home blown to ashes, where his little sister (eight years old) was hiding from the violence. He himself did contribute to the war effort, but he was still really young. He was slashed along his face (hence his scar) and had to retreat from the fighting. But Kiro can't forget seeing his father bleed to death, or his sister's traumatized face as she was ripped apart.
Strengths: He intimidates adversaries easily with his black clothing and mask, as well as his two swords.
Weaknesses: He has a hard time accepting truth (such as the death of his family) so he can be quite violent when he hears bad news. He also suffers from a condition which is basically alternate personalities, meaning he can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare, and you never knew which.
Expertise: Swordfighting, and speaks Japanese.
Insecurities: basically the condition I mentioned in Weaknesses

Full name: Danny Tosiksto

- He has half blue, half greyish hair, and he wears a loose suit with blue tie. He stands at about 5'11, and has very few blemishes of any sorts on his skin.
Personality: Danny's pretty indifferent about most things, so he cares little about other people a lot of the time apart from Konton. He can seem somewhat sociopathic, but mostly acts out of simple curiosity. When insulted, he'll likely snap back with harsh truths about people, knowing how to hurt their feelings. Other than that, he remains fairly quiet among groups of people.
Backstory: Tryin to think up a good'un, so I'll come back to this
Strengths: With his indifference, it's very difficult for people to read him. This makes him ideal for stealth, and information gathering. Additionally, he excels in terms of strategy and analysis, understand people's movements and actions, therefore being able to predict them.
Weaknesses: Danny can sometimes find difficulty in physical tasks, not being the most agile or physically strong.
Expertise: He's especially useful when it comes to any sorts of machinery.
Insecurities: He's mostly pretty dulled by what other people think of him, but sometimes when people talk about personal details, he can get snappy.

Full name: Clara Bloom

Appearance: She is small, thin and fragile natured, her face has frekles which are extremely adorable. Her skintone is Irish pale, she always seems to get burnt in sun so has scars on her legs they're generally covered by makeup she applies, she applies heavy make up. She's skinny and bony and very attractive.
Personality: She's very goofy and childish, she's never been studious and never takes anything seriously. She falls in love with every boy she ever meets- She is kind and caring but short tempered, she's a diva too but doesn't show it much unless she's extremely angry at someone or something. She enjoyes small things and is a beauty guru and makes sure everything is perfect.
Backstory: She grew up in an orphanage because both her parents died in war when she was 4. It affected her alot, her young mind always kept guard and didn't let anyone get to her. She searches for the love her parents couldn't give her by falling in love with every boy she meets, she's disorganized and doesn't have any goals in life. Though she wishes to be wealthy and get whatever she wants she can't do it. A wealthy family took her in when she was 15 and in a matter of three years she was very spoiled and pampered and got what she wanted. She has no values and doesn't care about much but yet she cares and is lovely.
Strengths: Makeup, Helping out and showing love to every individual.
Weaknesses: Is emotionally disturbed.
Expertise: Is a professional at hiding emotionals and typically plays with people's mind, convinces them in things they don't like.
insecurities: She has trust issues because of how her parents left her.

Full name: Hayley Laws
Age (16-20): 20
Appearance: Fair skin, freckled cheeks. Deep green eyes, large pupils. Dark blonde hair, which is very wavy and has lots of braids within it that trails down to her mid back. (image for reference). Long eyelashes, perfect teeth, pretty smile. She stands at 5'9 and is quite muscular and is very strong. Hayley is decorated in scars, though they aren't very visible due to her fair skin; they're mostly little cuts or swipes from practicing with blades. She typically wears plain, dark clothing along with a black cloak that conceals all her features. If necessary, Hayley opts for a black mask or burgundy scarf to cover her mouth and nose.
Personality: She has a dark humour that can slightly scare you. She is extremely defensive but can be very talkative and chatty. She is sarcastic, eloquent and snarky. She swears a lot and is slightly ridiculous. She is extremely intelligent and has impeccable common sense. She keeps her emotions in check and so she seems cold and heartless.
Backstory: Coming from a family of rebels, Hayley learnt pretty quickly how to grow up. She lived with her parents and older brother, Anthony, until the former were killed and the latter imprisoned and tortured to death. Hayley has spent her entire life training, so that she would never be taken down so swiftly as her family. Extremely intelligent, she's managed to remain undetected in her city and to the rebels, as she parted ways with them after the recovery of her brother's broken body when she was 16. They've been looking for her, but she has no plans to come back to them anytime soon. Though it may change if the situation demands it.
Strengths: Fast runner, has lots of stamina. She is extremely skilled in combat, close and long-ranged. Training from age six has given her an advantage in strength.
Weaknesses: She experiences post-traumatic stress after Anthony's body was recovered. She blames herself for his harrowing death as she believes she should have been there. Hayley experiences violent flashbacks at any mention of him and loses sense of herself when thinking of him or her parents.
Expertise: Close combat.
Insecurities: Her fragile mental state in relation to her family.

Full name: Ixion Crowndance
Age (16-20): 20
Appearance: Ixion is 5'7 in height with a curvy thin figure, her hair is short, wavy and golden blonde, her skin is pale and is dotted with freckles. She has bright green eyes, as if a meadow of grass on a summer's day, Ixion has freckles thrown across her nose and cheeks. She wears a white blouse with a grey shirt underneath and jeans along with two grey converses, she has multiple bracelets on her wrists, a silver wolf necklace around her neck that fits perfectly on her body.
Personality: Kind, extremely friendly making everyone who meets her happy (even if they are extremely sad or depressed), passionate, playful, funny, sentimental, gentle, calm, is nice to be around with, motherly figure, caring, loving. Easy to talk to, generous, talkative, sees the best in everyone even her enemies, persuasive with kindness. People who meet her describe her as an angel cast from heaven to make everyone happy, she is graceful and full of smiles. Animals and kids lover her instantly, talking to her and playing with her.
Backstory: Ixion grew up in an orphanage but was kind to everyone, most of the people wanted to adopt her, but she was adopted by the matron of the orphanage who loved her like her own daughter for many years and Ixion basically became her daughter, when Ix was a teenager, she felt distanced from her classmates. She had friends and she wasn’t bullied or anything, but she was too nice to everyone and people would make fun of her a little. She couldn’t really understand why what she thought was important in life barely touched them at all. Her friends didn’t pay any attention as they gossiped about boys when she knew she was gay, and constantly checked their phones. As she grew older, she began to understand that she was different, that her priorities weren’t the same as most people she knew, her priorities were to love everyone and be kind. She loved to spend time with her grandmother, and older people generally. She also found joy in playing with young children. Animals, also, gravitated to her.
Strengths: She is intelligent and knows a lot of scientific knowledge, hacking is a good skill of her own, she can identify most elements and objects, she is great at maths and knows 3 languages fluently, Spanish, English and Japanese.
Weaknesses: She is too kinds some might say, and that gets her in trouble. She is not a good runner and at combat she fails.
Expertise: Science and strategies
Insecurities: That no one will like her, insecure about feeling like she is invisible and not smart.

Full name: Rosetta Lillica

Spoiler: Rosetta's Appearance

Personality: Rosetta is a free-spirit, and wants freedom. Being trapped within the walls all her life, she longed for a change. She's tried escaping, tried climbing over, and has tried to dig her way under with a metal spoon (which failed). Rosetta is a very determined girl, and a clever one too. She's able to execute traps and succeed unlike anyone her age. She's quite rebellious and often refers to herself as a prisoner. She is incredibly loyal to her close friends- if she ever makes one.
Backstory: Rosetta's 'home' was first burnt down because of her rebellious act. She was furious that she was disallowed to go explore the world beyond the walls. She purposefully lit a candle over a flammable carpet, setting it and everything around it to flames. Her relationship with her family has been different ever since. She has burned down her bedroom several times, and now lives outside on her family's property. Ever since the rebels have formed, she's been determined to help them and join them.
Strengths: She is skilled at surviving the wild, after living in it for six years. She is capable of running at an incredible speed, racing faster than some animals and vehicles. She usually will run away from all her problems, such as her own family.
Weaknesses: Her weakness is knowing/watching someone she cares deeply for, is being tortured. She hates others being punished for something she did; to prevent this she has tried to take credit for what she did even if they won't believe her. She despises being trapped in a cage; like a prisoner.
Expertise: Running, and starting fires; Rosetta is practically a fire herself.
Insecurities: Being back-stabbed.

Personality: She's definitely passionate about the things she believes in, and she's not afraid to speak up for them. She's playful with everyone, but she knows when she takes it too far. Laila tends to show an outer version of herself to everyone she meets, and until someone is genuinely close with her, she won't open up. She doesn't snap at people often unless provoked. Even then, she'd have to be hit somewhere extremely personal for her to explode on someone. As well as this, she keeps all her feelings and emotions bottled up until they burst and because of this, she looks like she breaks down over the simplest thing. She's truly compassionate for others, but she doesn't show it.
Backstory: She grew up in a normal household for the most part-- or as normal as it gets with this plot. Though, her mother was big on safety and made Laila train herself to become fit and able to defend herself if anything happened. For the most part, she was uninterested in combat itself but picked up the things she learned over the years. She keeps herself fit and healthy as a sort of habit since she's been doing it since childhood.
Strengths: Laila is great at fist-to-fist combat, but can do some simple archery-- which she isn't very skilled in, but she can hit the target if concentrated enough. She does have some difficulty in shooting bow and arrow especially if the target moves too much. Her general aim isn't bad either. On the emotional side, she's good at making others laugh and lightening the mood.
Weaknesses: She doesn't like expressing her very personal opinions, and prefers to keep quiet about her life in general. She's definitely more of a listener. Laila's really bad at giving people second chances when they've hurt her or someone she cares for. She also has bad pain resistance.
Expertise: Hand to hand combat and mood making
Insecurities: When people start to force her to open up about her feelings, it makes her close up more. She's not one to share how she feels about certain things unless she's with someone close to her. She stands up for what she believes is right, but when it comes to personal matters, she doesn't show anything.

Personality: Quite the punk kid, Selective Mute, Loner, Determined... Pretty much literally any dystopian anime MC tbh.. SerIOUS trust issues-
Backstory: Was taken by a criminal organization at a young age; since his brother's a target of theirs. They kept him hostage as a prisoner, hoping his brother would surrender himself for him. He never did, since he didn't even know he was there. He was treated quite badly there, especially by the people he trusted. Since he was taken at a young age, he wasn't taught to read or write in English, or anything that most kids take for granted. They did teach him how to read write in strange symbols however, since they were planning to have him turn into a scout for them, and had to read the orders. He absolutley hated it.
Strengths: Determination. If he wants to do something, he WILL do it.
Weaknesses: He does resort to violence extremely fast.
Expertise: He is pretty much an expert with the slingshot
Insecurities: Is actually quite lonely, to the point where his only real "friend" is (ironically, based on his personality) a teddy bear named "Mr.Cuddles".

I believe I’ve reached a sufficient amount of characters now. I will be releasing the prologue tomorrow and will be working on the first chapter and aim to release it by Wednesday, depending on my schedule. Putting it out there early, I may have to change roles to keep towns balanced.
