Reasoning
Recently, I've been playing loads of Fortnite. This is relevant because I think FPS games are overshadowing Minecraft and are one of the many things contributing to the decreasing amount of player activity. Back when Minecraft was one of the most sought-after video games-- games like Survival Games and Sky Wars were incredibly popular. Nowadays, that trophy has been taken by first-person-shooter games such as Fortnite and CS:GO. I feel as though it could be a massive success if we somehow were able to merge the two into a gamemode that everyone would enjoy playing. I'm going to outline my general ideas for this new gametype in the paragraphs that follow and will edit the thread and add different things from other people as well.

Gameplay
12-24 players spawn into a "battle bus" of sorts, or "party bus" for originality's sake and fly above the map. They have 15 seconds to jump and glide down from the bus to the battle arena waiting below. Players are free to land anywhere within the map limits. Scattered around the map are Mythic Chests, Legendary Chests, Epic Chests, Rare Chests, Uncommon Chests, and Common Chests. The contents of the chests go as followed.
Mythic: Party Rockets, Medical Kit, Mythic Shield
Legendary: Minigun, Medical Kit, Legendary Shield
Epic: Party Bombs, Medical Kit, Rare Shield
Rare: SMG, Crossbow, Bandages, Rare Shield
Uncommon: Grenades, Bandages, Shotgun, Common Shield
Common: M16, AK47, Bandages, Pistol, Common Shield
see loot list below for further information
As players gather weapons, they are also able to chop down trees, break boulders, and collect iron from around the map to build and create their own bases as the amount of survivors decreases. Closing in from all sides to a random point on the map is a massive storm, the player's job is to remain inside of the eye-- the only calm place. If a player enters the storm at any time, their health will deplete and they will eventually be eliminated from the game. As players begin to fall, the top of the screen will display their name and their cause of death. Example below.
Jebb got caught in the storm! 16 players remain.
Star__x was blown up by ALM's Party Bomb! 15 players remain.
llatekate was sniped by Arujann's Crossbow! 14 players remain.
.
.
.
a few deaths later
smitdalt fell from a high place! 2 players remain.
Sarhah was shotgunned by Richhi! RICHHI WINS! what a joke she always loses

Eventually, the eye of the storm will become so small that the remaining players have no choice but to fight each other-- preventing campers or hiders from achieving an unfair victory.

FAQ:
Oh my dear sweet Aru, for what may the prizes for winning be?
1000 tokens for winning, 500 for second, 250 for third, all other participants get 100.
How long do games last?
15-30 minutes.
How would the weapons and extras look in-game?
My idea was to have the Design Team create a custom texture pack for the game ans to reskin shovels, hoes, snowballs, and other vanilla items into their corresponding gadget.
What about adding teams?
We don’t have the player count for that. Possibly if the game became a massive success it could be a possibility but I think where we stand it would do more harm than good.
ill put the answers to all of the questions in this section : D

feedback appreciate thx

I would LOVE to see this as a new addition to PZ. Recently I’ve been wanting to try these new games but, I can’t play fortnite because of my computer. If this were to be implemented on PZ it would give players a chance to play those games but in Minecraft, plus it sounds like a very fun game overall. +1

First, thanks for being organized and descriptive! I often see suggestions that just try to port an idea to PZ without actually going into detail for those who don't understand the idea.

I've been playing Fortnite since the very end of Season 2 (so not that long), and I definitely enjoy it. I like the idea of adding Battle Royale to PartyZone, but I have two things I'd like to mention/add to the suggestion.
  1. Fortnite is fun, but it's a lot more fun with friends. I would love to see the option to play in Duos and/or Squads like in Fortnite. (Perhaps we could also have those other fun limited-time events like sniper-only rounds, 50 vs. 50, etc.) Minecraft obviously doesn't have an in-game voice chat, so players could use an in-game party chat or use a third-party voice chat software if they so choose.
  2. It might need a fun twist. I know a lot of people say this for certain suggestions, but I think putting a twist on the game could really add a lot to the experience. It doesn't have to completely change the core of the game - it could be something simple like changing the names of locations, reskinning weapons to look Party-ish, etc. or it could be more complex. This suggestion also isn't mandatory, but adding a PartyZone spin to a well-known minigame is always welcome.
That's all I've got. Let me know what you think.

Well, with the teams thing— I agree. However, I think that it would be smarter to slowly add things like that in if the game grew in popularity. A “don’t bite off more than you can chew” scenario of sorts.

With your second point— I submitted the thread by accident whilst I was working on it and your comment reminded me that I meant to suggest that the Design Team get involved with actual gamemodes on the network and create a custom texture pack for the weapons and extras. I also think we’re at such a dire point that our whole “originality” motif should be scrapped in favor of games that will appeal to the masses.

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't think we should only implement completely original gamemodes, but there are definitely ways to personalize the ones we do implement, like with a custom texture pack. And I think you're right about the teams feature - adding that now would just take more time to implement before the game is even released, and we don't know how popular it'll be. Well said.

I do like this idea a lot. At first I was a tad skeptical due to us barely scraping 100 players a day, but with your reasoning about how we could lessen the amount of players needed to between 12-24 would work very well. I am 100% sure this would be a big success and may even bring players to our server. +1.

This is a great idea and would encourage new players to join the community!

The only question I have is this:
"battle bus" of sorts, or "party bus" for originality's sake
What would players be flying on // doing to create the "party bus" effect, without causing too much lag?

Other then that +1!

Maybe a still bus in the air, as the starting timer hits 0 the doors would open and players could elytra down to the place they wanted to. Not sure

And to prevent players from camping up there, the bus should despawn after around... 10 seconds?
I think in Fortnite, the bus forces you to drop if it reaches the other end of the map. I don't know if you were planning on having the bus float across the map. If not, then you'd have to set a timer.

It does do that, but I’m not entirely sure that’s possible in Minecraft therefore a stationary bus with every point in the map reachable would probably be the best bet
