Alright kiddos, I wanna talk about stuff

Hello, for those of you that do not know me, I'm CanYouDont, I also go by Icy or Umbrasia. I'm a lover of MMORPGs, FPS games and, of course, Minecraft.
I play games to reduce stress and just to have fun. I love dogs and I'm a care free person, but on top of everything else, I'm proudly a girl gamer.

I want to talk about something that has bothered me a lot of the past 8 years I have been playing video games... Sexism. For some reason guys who play video games believe that girls cannot, that we have no skill. Recently I have gotten into a game called Overwatch (which is a first person shooter for those who do not know), I play the game competitively, and I'm not half bad. I've got a 2.70 K/D ratio with my main, D. Va, and a 47.1% win rate overall. I'm willing to interact with my team as long as they are willing to interact with me.

Last night, I played 10 competitive games. I did my best to win but it's hard to win when your game is being thrown. I had 8 out of the 10 games be thrown because I am a girl. It's very frustrating to me because I am actually making an attempt to win while these jerks are trying to lose. I had one guy tell me to turn off my mic and kill myself. This isn't the first game I've had this happen to me, and I'm sure other people can relate here.
Girls face a lot of prejudice on games, as there is this stereotype that girls suck at games, no matter the game, and that we are lame if you play them. This is a form of cyber bullying, which is extremely against the law.
Girls, don't listen to these people, if playing games makes you happy then do it. If you do not want to face this anymore, you can pretend be a guy, or not talk on voice chat.
Guys, if you believe in this stereotype, stop. It's not true. If you sit there and watch a girl be yelled at for being a girl and you can do something about it but don't, you are part of the problem. You telling the other guy to shut up could save us a lot of trouble and stress by just saying a few simple words like, "Hey back off" or "Dude, just chill" anything will help.

Anyways that's it for now kiddos, I love you all a lot. Remember to never let it get to you or to never participate in cyber bullying. Bye!

Yea when I started murder I talked a lot yet in the end the things I saI'd became reality. I got so close to rank one yet I tried my best and got to rank 51. I don't see girls as being not good at video games. To be honest I think they are better lol. Met 2 amazing people MMG and Soxa. They were pretty amazing and I was a little better yet MMG was quite a challenge lol.

I have faced this problem many times. It was horrible but I didn't really let it get to me because they were just mad that I was winning xP But many other girls have gone through this, and its terrible. I hope that people who give out these negative vibes realize that we are all equal no matter the race, gender, or sexuality. Its a great thing you brought this matter up! xP

note: this message goes for more than just females in gaming!! this goes for everything!! you do what makes you happy, and anyone who doesn't like it can go elsewhere. if you're a boy and you like makeup, great! if you're a girl and you like cars, great! also I can assure you that when you're good at things people make fun of you for, and especially when you beat them at their own games, they eventually back off. always stick up for yourselves. I love you guys, stay gold

If you find yourself in any multiplayer FPS games there's a 99% chance that you'll run into some bitter people. Not even just girls but guys as well.

These people just want a reaction out of you basically. To make you mad or sad, because it makes them feel more powerful. But the best thing to do is just ignore them and continue doing whatever you want to do. If you act like it doesn't bother you there's a high chance they'll get bored and leave your game, party, etc.

So basically, do what you enjoy and don't listen to the trolls. That's probably what I like best about minecraft, it's a very gender neutral environment.
