About Applying for staff...

Why do you have to be VIP? Does it really matter? I want to be staff here, but my parents wouldn't let me get VIP.
 
VIP shows your commitment to obtaining a Staff position. If you are willingly donating actual real life money, it shows that you, at the very least, care about helping out in the server. Of course, it all comes down to your reputation though and if you are capable of fulfilling your responsibility towards helping others on the server. It isn't necessary though as you can get it without VIP(maybe not at the moment) but that will take quite a lot of effort.
