How do I get a different type of hoe?

Like golden or stone or iron. It doesn't work for me. It isn't going into the emerald under the redstone then gun upgrade. Please help me out here.
 
The different type of gun (hoe) changed when you buy a different sword. Say you bought the iron sword, you would also get the iron gun.
