Helper Applications: Why is it 14 and over?

In this thread I'll try my hardest not to be rude, but lets see how this goes.

Ok, I'm 11 and I just attempted creating a helper application. After 2 hours, I finished and clicked the Submit button, but it comes up saying I need to be 14 and over for this.

As you all know, some people (Usually children under the age of 13) can be really immature, and I suspect that's why they put an age limit on. However, there are others that are really mature and independent, sometimes much more then older teenagers. I believe it isn't fair that because of a few kids, we are all not allowed to be moderators, helpers, etc.

I know a server (Not going to say the name because I don't want to advertise) that has an age limit that used to be 13 which is now 15 (Most likely because some 13 and 14 year olds are not as mature), but they still let younger people apply only if they have a certain amount of posts on the forums, amount of time playing (few more than this) and are mature & independent enough. Of course, the rules also effect older kids but are less.. big, if you know what I mean. I even know a 10 year old who is a moderator!! Personally, I think that is a wonderful rule not really discriminating people in any way.

I don't mean I want every single person under 14 to apply and get accepted, I mean the ones who seem more independent and.. grown up, in a way.

I'm not trying to offend anyone or bash the owners, it's just a rant and a suggestion. I added a poll to let the rest of the community have a voice, too. Please leave feedback and suggestions to make this idea better!

Majority of people under the age of fourteen are regarded to be immature and are more likely to abuse their powers. This limit wasn't always here, and I was staff once at the age of thirteen, so yes, sometimes those under the age of fourteen can have the abilities to be mature enough and can be trustworthy; however as a general rule, you're more likely to see an abusive twelve year old rather than a fourteen or sixteen year old.

This isn't meant to be anything against you, mind that! They do allow people to apply for staff or just to become staff sometimes, but I believe that's mainly because they do not have VIP, however I'm sure if you're as mature as you seem to believe (I'm not saying you're not, just implying that you could), then you could most likely prove yourself worthy (I suppose that's the right word?) enough to be able to apply or maybe even skip that whole thing.

The application system should probably not allow those under foruteen to apply though, since you spent quite a long time creating said application only to be rejected when you sent it.

Also, I know this sounds really bad but having very young staff members makes the server look bad. For example, there is another (extremely popular) server with staff members that are literally 10 years old and it caused so much trashtalking on twitter about that server, and it really causes more trouble than it's worth. I know that there are a small minority of 12 year olds that are mature (I have a 12 year old brother and he's actually very mature so I do understand) but realistically there are so little people that actually are of that maturity level that it's not really worth the trouble and staff's time, when there are plenty of willing mature helpers to do the job.

I'm sorry I don't agree to this , the fact is because if your 13+ you should be able to apply anyway because you are in the teens and you are more mature as you grow older so I would probably stick with 13.

I think there should be a section for younger people's applies and they should have different questions or maybe a JR Helper rank

1. It's 14+ but that doesn't really matter
2. I understand where you're coming from, but I'm trying to make people have 2nd thoughts by this thread. I know sometimes I can just blurt everything out of me which confuses people (I'm currently trying to end that ._.) but then again, you may of had 2nd thoughts but didn't point out all of your beliefs.

I don't think it particularly needs different questions since it's basically the exact same at the end, unless you withdraw commands (Which I don't find very useful for the MCPZ community, since there will be no reason for the JR Helpers) but I completely agree with the Junior Helpers idea.

This has been suggested before.The fact is, for a Junior Helper that is basically all of the Regulars and Store-bought ranked players together. Junior Helpers would have, what commands? What power to have people listen to them? They would have the same authority as anybody else that isn't staff.

I slightly disagree with this. People can mess around with the commands when regular staff aren't around and can be punished. Staff are trusted carefully with the commands, and if some "Junior Helpers" have the ability to use those commands to mess around, it will just make the server look bad.

Agreed. If the server gave junior helper ranks to under aged players (more likely to abuse than older ones, also!) then the server would most likely be criticized for allowing them to have this.

I love this idea. I spent so much time trying to do my application and it said I was not old enough. I'm pretty mature for my age. They should rate it on maturity. They should get rid of the age thing and replace it with maturity or something.

Just noting the age limit is 13 and up.
And while a trial helper may be an idea for the future right now it just doesn't make sense for the server since Helper in theory is a trial Mod so a trial helper would in a sense be a trial-trial mod.

That's what the application is for. To see who is mature enough to be staff. I would never mess around like that if I had junior helper and it was a thing, that was the whole point of this thread. To show that not all younger people are immature.

And while a trial helper may be an idea for the future right now it just doesn't make sense for the server since Helper in theory is a trial Mod so a trial helper would in a sense be a trial-trial mod.

Also, we would not like a young user as staff as they may not know that certain words were curse words// We would not like them to be learning any new ones. :b
