Size, variation, colors, time? What makes a map so good?
I want to know what is the main thing you like about a map for Hunger games, Murder, etc...
This might just help some people understand what to focus on.
If you could explain to me and anyone who comes across this thread what makes a map good.
Then you are helping more then 1 person.

So what do you have in mind?
 
Also, this depends on which map you are making. For instance, a Murder Map would have to be smaller than a Survival Games Map. Also, for all maps, you may want to have size, variation, depth, height, and different colors to blend in. Downgrade Maps should be a bit more open so that players are able to hit each other without too many obstacles. I'd also add hiding spots for Murder and Hunger Games, as that makes the map more fun and difficult for everyone.

Yeah, depends on the map. I'm just going to assume you're talking about Murder Maps however, because that's what most people spend their time building maps for.

I'm not saying I'm an expert on building maps -.- so… calm your farms if you're gonna hate.

Things that make a good map:
  • block variation
  • not loads of dead ends
  • not too open
  • not really small/big
If you're making a map that has outside areas, I would suggest lots of what's-a-ma-call-it, whatever you do to like make layers of ground so it's not just flat ground.

So what do you have in mind?

For game types it needs to be specific. Hunger games is designed for large but great quality, murder needs a smaller but more variety style and work out with the map style and theme. Downgrade is medium sized but open so people can continue the game. Sky Wars is the same, but with islands. The block variety, scheme, planning, ideas, depth, and more seem better for map building.
