Should this be a punishment?

While I've been browsing the forums I've noticed a lot of
" @STAFFMEMBER_ Lock please! :D :) " Without the thread owners permission, I've experienced this where someone just goes like that, without even asking If I wanted it locked. I feel this should be a punishment Locking the thread without the thread owner's permission. I already have the screenshots of the stuff I found.

Instead of a punishment, I would just advise staff members to only lock threads when the owner requests it locked themselves.

Personally if I see any Question thread where the question has clearly been answered i'll lock the thread whether any user asked of if the owner permitted it. If for any reason the answer was 100% what the thread owner wanted there is nothing to stop them easily making a follow up thread.

Ultimately staff have the right to lock threads as they see fit toward benefiting the quality of the forums.

*cough* owned.

Anyways, I agree because sometimes I see a thread that has recently been locked when I wanted to reply. I think it would be good if it would only get locked if the owner of the thread asked.

Just adding to DizzyBonnet or if staff see fit

Staff only really lock threads that have been answered correctly, the issue has been solved/not there anymore, or something happened to make it not needed to be unlocked. I sometimes ask for staff to lock threads because the issue was solved in said thread.

Hmnn...
I've experienced this myself & it can personally be annoying, unfortunately staff may not see full argument and lock the thread. Normal players sometimes go: Maybe we should get a staff to lock this :D
It's damn right annoying and I can see fully why you're affected by it. To me i Dislike it when they lock threads to maybe a bit of a question where everyone has an answer because it's a question where it has no real answer. Try not to rock the boat to much in blaming staff if they may not see the full argument/conclusion in a thread where they suppose they should step in.
I've tried to be friendly with this and just a lil advice;) Yet truly this is just an opinion
Hopefully this has covered everything, yet I'm on no side to this argument, I understand 100% about locking threads, yet if they may get out of handle staff need to stop it before anyone else can comment making the argument grow worse.

Yet sometimes I got your point! Staff will lock a thread with an answer! Sometimes other players are fortunate to be able to answer questions, so staff may be incorrect with the answer [rarely] and lock the thread, so the player who is still yet wondering, won't know the real answer.

I'm on no side and in for every argument there is good reasons for both sides. :D Hope this will clear things up.

If the thread was answered properly, or the owner asked to have it locked, I'd lock it.

I am guilty of asking for thread locks, but only when it's been answered, going off topic, or it is one big mess that feels like people are arguing.

@echko13 yelled at me for locking his thread, when clearly as of right now, I can't. Also it's not that hard to create a follow up thread if theirs still something to talk about.

Thats what happend to me @Midnight9746 said in my thread "@Staffmember lock this thread" for no reason

Well, i think it shouldn't be punishable. But then again, the owner might get annoyed if the thread gets locked when his/her question wasn't %100 answered.

Then again, if the thread goes off topic, then that is a reason to lock the thread.

I do agree with Pixll. In most cases, I would think that this is the polite way, however there would be certain times when it needs to be locked regardless.
