Sometimes we have a question we're not very cOnfiDeNT about. But we have to ask it.

Lemme get to it. So basically you can ask a 'dumb question' and just FEEL like everyone is laughing at you. Probably aren't though. Hopefully. But regardless, I feel as is questions should be hidden for the mental safety of asking the dumb question.

Edit: I do not mean hidden as in hidden from view. I basically meant that the user who creates the thread will have their name hidden from view, do basically an anon forum's thread.

Pros:
Mental safety


Cons: Past questions couldn't be seen. Constant question being asked.

I think you mean anonymous questions. This sounds like a good idea but I wouldn’t depend on it being implemented the moment it gets approved/related. Aside from that, anonymous questions would probably defeat the purpose of the question forum. It would only permit staff to access it and not just a typical member.

One of the cons you mentioned were repeated questions. This can easily be avoided by that common question be added to the “FAQ • Read before enquiring” thread. At the top of the form to fill out your anonymous question, in bold, it can give a message alerting players about that thread.

When the question is answered, it should be similar to when a user report is marked as solved. Only the player and staff members can view it.

I agree with what I think op is trying to say.
I think they mean that when a question is posted, instead of where it would normally say the player’s forums name and profile picture, it would be blank or altogether removed. This could prevent any possible embarrassment or anxiety regarding asking a question that may seem obvious.

I think that I’m order to avoid confusion, staff should have the ability to view the name of the user who posted the question, in case of further inquiries or non-questions (e.g. saying “Hi” instead of a question)

Pros:
•no embarrassment regarding questions that a user may want to ask (e.g. “How do I join games” or some sort of question that may be very obvious to many players)

Cons:
•Staff being unable to reach the op (this can be fixed by adding the feature for staff to view the op)

If you can just pm a staff member for a question, there is no reason for the Questions section or #questions on Discord.

We want the community to feel more safe, and I feel that sometimes questions may seem stupid. That's why making all questions anonomyous to all users except staff would help create a safer-feeling enviroment. If we can utilize everything to the best of our ability to create a stronger and better feeling community, the better. This helps that along with keeping open questions. This could be applied to Discord as well, but that's a different matter.

Most questions people have, have already been answered previously and can be easily searched up. If it is not and you don’t want to get embarrassed, you can pm a staff member. I think having questions open to the public is a very useful thing, and has helped me many times.

My initial suggestion was to have the section for questions still be the same, but have the names of the thread posters hidden. The staff will answer normally, without reffering to the user's name, and state that the user can pm them or whatever they do. The staff can view the users who asked the questions. This will simply reduce and stress that may be there. The questiojs can still be viewed, along with the answer. This will not interfere with anything you mentioned.

Anonymity can easily lead to excessive abuse, people can and will do and say things they normally wouldn't because it'd be impossible to serve repercussion. If a system gets put in place where repercussion can be served, it degrades the idea to a degree, but would still make it anonymous towards normal members. Members already can pm a staff member, and questions are still used. The whole purpose of the questions section is to ask questions that you're comfortable asking in public, and get usually more public answers so others with similar questions may stumble into it.
