Oh man.
For those who want a short, quick explanation, here it is:
- riot in PZ Discord.
- many valiant soldiers were brutally injured (punished) for their noble deeds.
- I was one of those soldiers. Not just a soldier. I was the commander, and I got the sharp end of the sword.
For those who want a DETAILED explanation, here is my tale:
My name is Spirits. I used to be a respected member of PartyZone. I am an ex-trainee on the Discord, and have links with many other partiers.
You noticed I said "used to be respected." You're wondering, what does that mean?
That, my friend, is where the story begins.
It's the 10th of February, 2019. All is well and good on the Discord. Innocent partiers are engaging in civilised conversations in the lounge. Until one brave soldier steps up to the government of the Discord (the staff team) and demands one thing.
"I want flags as emotes. But not just any flags. They must be pride flags, representing each sexuality and gender. Seeing as our wonderful home is very LGBTQ supportive, we can have these emotes to represent that."
The soldier was opposed. One said "there is no need." Another said "it may arouse controversial opinions."
Fortunately for the soldier, their commander had arrived to provide support. However, this commander was disguised as a mere commoner, one of the public. No one had batted an eye as he walked into the governmental building. The commander went to the soldier's side and brought up a ridiculous argument: "If you are arguing against pride flags, then that makes you homophobic."
Of course, the commander was well aware that the government was NOT homophobic, nor anti-LGBTQ. So why did he bring that up, like a fool? Let's just say he was not in the best mood. He was angry, he was confused, he was raring for a fight. And what is the best way to bring up a fight? Anger a collective party.
One of the higher-ups opposed the commander. He said he had no right to accuse the government of such a thing. Secretly the commander agreed, but did not show it in his face. He was about to defeat the higher-up with an array of facts and knowledge, but it just so happened that another commoner, drunk and confused, waltzed into the building and blabbered nonsensical phrases, such as "tree sexuality." This led the government to believe that the public could not be trusted to make real suggestions. By this time other soldiers had joined the commander in his cause, and then the government decided that was enough. They issued official warnings to the soldiers, and to the commander, they silenced his name, not allowing his opinion to be spoken. After half an hour of the mute, the government had collectively decided that the commander had to go. He was banished from the town, never to return.
However, the commander had been ready for this. He came back an hour later, with a new face and outfit. When he came back, the soldiers and government were arguing about how the government are 'reckless' with their punishments and must learn to control them. One particularly valiant soldier reminded the government that the problem was not their rules, but it was how they dealt with offenders. The soldier said that people were often confused with how punishments were doled out. The government asked for some examples of where punishments were too strict, but the soldier could not provide any, saying that they didn't have the resources to go through each punishment.
Again, the disguised commander had tried to get involved, but it turned out that there was a spy, a commoner that secretly worked for the government. They were very effective at their job. They quickly discovered the true identity of the commander and reported it to the government. After this, the government wasted no time in making sure that the commander was gone, for good this time.
After this, the soldier who had only tried to make an innocent suggestion in the first place tried again. This time the conversation was much more peaceful, with people making valid points and not arguing. The government and people alike were happy that the row was now over, but the commander wasn't done yet.
He lurked in the shadows, not revealing his person.
Waiting until the perfect moment to strike.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, this would probably be better in the Stories subforum.
