When you clicked on this I assume you thought I wanted it lowered. Hahahaha NO!

This suggestion will be unpopular but it could be rewarding for the severs benefit in the future.

The new staff age should be 15 or 16+ so we can be sure that (discord trainee 13+)
A. Staff members are mature
B. have a better sense of judgment
C. Don't abuse there powers
D. Can be trusted to do things 13 year olds can't

Ik Ik a lot of you would be like what after reading D but hear me out before you go all beserk.

With 13 year olds they are more likely to abuse their powers in a fit of rage or while in an argument with players.

The sense of judgement is still in development.

They can be trusted more with the powers.

If this were implemented how would the staff change?

Keep the staff that are under the age requirement as they are already moderators/helpers

But for future applicants the rule would apply.

How would this benefit the community?
It would benefit the community as it would have a much more mature staff team and hopefully bring that player active above 200 (note to staff; this is a real danger to the server and the count is still falling)

If you have any criticism, concerns and/or feedback don't hesitate to leave a comment I don't bite

I personally don't see a need for this. We have many staff members under this new requirement already, and all are hard-working and mature. A staff member can abuse their powers no matter their age. Applicants go through the application and interview process before being promoted, and if they were immature or short-tempered, they would not be accepted. If a staff member is immature, short-tempered or abuses their powers, they will of course be dealt with by the leadership team. For now, I do not see a reason to raise this requirement.

Could you please explain how this change would bring the player count up?

Because the younger staff aren't really the best and have a poor judgment and end up giving players lengthy bans where most of us have experienced them driving the player activity down where the mature moderators think before giving the a ban as in is this really that serious compared to the imidiate ban of a month (excluding the punishment of ban evasion and past infractions)

Staff members have specific guidelines to follow, which include the amount of time to punish a player for. Staff members are allowed to use their own judgement with these guidelines if the situation is more severe, however they would not do so dramatically. If you are talking about helpers here, they only have permission to ban for up to a day, which allows them to develop better judgement while they are starting their position as staff.

EDIT: Keep in mind that there are only around three helpers/mods that are above the age of 15. The current staff members will eventually leave the staff team, and when looking for new staff members, there will not be a lot of options as the majority age-group of staff members is below what you are recommending. This could work on larger networks that have lots of applicants, however PZ would struggle to find staff in the future.

While I do understand where you are coming from, I think it's fine how it currently is. Like Nashi said, our guidelines allow us to use our own judgment in some situations. Banning time has a max and a limit for certain offenses. The same goes for mutes. If you feel like someone is being biased or their judgment is way off, you can always make a staff abuse report or bring it up to a Sr Mod. They do look at that stuff and get it figured out.

Another problem would be the fact that half of our staff team would be demoted for not meeting the requirement if this was made the new age requirement. It would take a long while to come back from. I know plenty of relatively younger staff members who would not abuse their powers in a "fit of rage". If they do, leadership- a lot more often than not- find out and the staff member is dealt with.

Why would discord trainee have to be 13+? I think 11 and over is fine for discord, also a lot of the staff are already 16+ or 15+ so that wouldn't really matter, and also it would give us less staff. A lot of people that play Minecraft are 13 and under, and not 32, 41, or even 29.

I mean, I don't think the human brain is fully developed until at least age 20, and it takes longer for men, so if you're looking for true maturity here, it's not going to happen.

That being said, some (but, of course, not all) 13-year-olds are perfectly capable of being mature and level-headed. Theoretically, those 13-year-olds are the ones who should be accepted for Helper.

Yes, some staff seem like they don’t understand and 16+ will
Make the server like proper and not full of 13 year olds banning people for saying moo
They don't, do you even play on PZ? jkjk

There are plenty of staff those of who are 13 or 14 who are perfectly mature and fit for staff. When someone gets helper yes being 13+ is a requirement they mostly base it on maturity level and more and not a whole ton on age because there can be 15 or 16 year olds who are completely immature while a 13 or 14 year old who are mature and such. And please note helpers can only ban for one day and they are to follow guidelines as said above. Staff from my knowledge dont tend to falsely punish though if they do or believe they did there are appeals for a reason. As well if we made staff only being able to apply if you are 15 or 16 or older that could actually maybe decrease our player count cause a lot of our players are 14 or younger and if we didn't allow 13 or 14 year old our staff team I feel like wouldn't be as many we have now and this in my eyes would not benefit this server.

Pretty sure the age requirement used to be 15 when I first joined and I waited so long till my 15th birthday to be able to apply then on/around my birthday they lowered the age requirement to 14! Was absolutely vexxed lmao.

But yea most of the people applying are pretty young and when the age requirement was higher I believe they weren't in the best position staff-wise and there must've been a sufficient reason for them to lower it so obvs they don't need to.

The applications are still thoroughly judged and if theres some 14 year old that seems more fit for the position than a 27 year old then they will accept that candidate regardless of age. If these 13yo staff misbehave or abuse their power then they will be dealt with accordingly just like any other staff member.

And about maturity, is anyone even mature nowadays?? Surely having a role as a staff member can teach the younger players maturity and they still have the entire helper period to mature otherwise they'll just be demoted instead of getting mod.

But yea that's the tea, don't listen to me tho I haven't been on in over a year xoxo

Personally I think that the current age for staff (13+) is a good age to be able to apply, thirteen is the age in which people start to mature and interact in a stronger way with a stronger mind. I wouldn't have a problem with the age being moved up but I don't think it should be lowered, my final opinion is it should just stay where its at.

In my honest opinion, the age isn't what matters, it's the maturity of the applicant. We make sure to get to know potential helpers very well before promoting them so we can ensure we have mature staff members.

I believe Desert is right. Also, staff aren’t mature at all times. Eleven year olds can fool around however they want, but they have to be mature in dire situations.

I disagree with helper age but agree with discord trainee age requirement, I think that 11 and 12 year olds shouldn't be able to apply for staff since discord is 13+, they're not following the terms and regulations of discord itself making it look bad. I'd have to say when you're 11 and 12, people tend to act mature but aren't because they're still learning and take an example of an elder staff member and act as they do. I'd really like to see the age requirement for discord staff be changed to 13+! Before you disagree with me saying it's fine already, understand this staff under the age 13 are breaking rules of discord itself and shouldn't be completely trusted, no matter how mature they're they shouldn't be on discord following the age requirement rules.

I mean.. we shouldn’t trust internet people in the first pkace though..?

If you're referring to my post, you can't trust anyone generally online or on the internet but in my point of view I'm talking about those who basically don't follow general discord rules aren't fit for staff and shouldn't be trusted with the position.

I agree, I personally have come across staff members who are subtlety immature if that makes sense. Like it feels like staff have grudges against certain players and bend the rules for others. where as if you are just a few years older you’ll come to realise things like grudges are really dumb. I think there are some 13 year olds who are mature for their age, but personally I feel as if the immature ones outweigh the mature ones.

Also discord trainee should definitely be 13 plus. You’re not even supposed to be on discord if you’re under 13, let alone be trainee on a server. I definitely feel like the majority of 12 and 11 year olds don’t have the same maturity.
