New Gametype Factions

Well, I'm not entirely sure how much of a say I get given that I'm the only player commenting without "VIP, Elite, Mod, etc." I certainly think that running a factions server would most definitely be more work than other servers, although a lot of players are attracted to this kind of gameplay; a long-term, survival based experience (a game mode not present on MCPZ). I'm unfamiliar with this sister network that was mentioned, but I fail to see how adding a factions server can negatively impact either server. Not to mention, given that it would be a new server, it would be very desirable since no one would have an edge against another for quite some time; ultimately, this would boost the level of satisfaction acquired from playing. I would like to add that I am most certainly not certified to be a helper or anything, but would not mind assisting the creation of such a server. Thank you.

All opinions count.

My apologies. I assumed it was similar to lobbying in elections. While I'm at it though, I was told that the server may need something that makes it stand out. One server I played on was called "Ranked Factions" in which the factions were ranked based on several factors which gave the faction points. This server unfortunately was taken down shortly after I admittedly exploited the system. Points could be redeemed for power, power could be used to claim land, then land gave you more power. This was one reason I liked it; another being that the faction's privileges could be modified. Each tier could have adjusted allowances (including enemies, truces, and allies). MCMMO was also used in this server and was always pleasurable, but this attracts hackers and bots to mindlessly acquire these levels. Obviously, copying the server in its entirety would be distasteful, but they are just some ideas. I'm attempting to become a helper somehow so that I can contribute to this more than rambling on a forum.

Don't say the name of the server.

I think that’s quite a good idea. Maybe like you can apply as a faction to become a certain faction rank (get accepted by how much land and power etc you have) and the different ranks get perks and things. (I think i literally just reworded exactly what you said sorry) but yeah i really like that idea :)

No no no, that’s even better. The server I was talking about was ranked like how Murder has top players. A faction server with Classes would be interesting. Peasant, farmer, lord, nobel, royalty, etc. It would have a nice, refreshing twist to factions. Great idea, Katy

Yeah it would be so cool and the ranks could even have some sort of party theme to keep it unique to party zone

Love it. Its unique and special. Also I would like to join a factions server before anyone gets diamond stuff and OP gear so I can actually live. Also so I can probably lead a faction full of Defaults and say that Default is the best rank out there.

Factions

Factions has previously been suggested, here, and was at high demand of implementation. Although factions has been suggested already, I’d like to post this thread in addition to Nashi’s, to add some twists and further suggestions to the idea to re-implement factions on PartyZone.

Overall Idea

For those who are unaware, factions is a clan based survival server in which players create their own faction or join another player’s faction to raid and fight against other factions. The aim is to defeat other player’s Factions, while making yours better.

Factions was a very popular game-type, back in the earlier times of PartyZone, and I believe the re-implementation of factions will help to increase the network’s player-base; attracting new players and to entertain current players who are uninterested of what PartyZone currently has to offer.

PartyZone’s current player-base is not huge, however there are enough players which allows for a nice, safe community. Minecraft is losing players to more intriguing and interesting games, so realistically, PartyZone will not gain massive amounts of players. However, the addition of popular gamemode may attract enough players to allow the server to grow, but to maintain their community feel.

As Nashi has created a thread on the main basis of the game and how it will work, I’m not going to be including the basic details of Factions like the shop, currency etc. Instead, I will be explaining extra additions that may make the game-mode more interesting, and unique compared to other servers.

Crates(Gift things)?

There are two types of crates.

Instead of the name “crates”, the monthly/weekly crates will be renamed, to maintain PartyZone’s party theme, and are as followed:

Gift Bag - available to VIP and VIP+ (gift bags or party bags are often given after parties, especially when younger)

Gift Box - available to ELITE and ELITE+ (gift boxes are more generous than gift bags and contain more goodies)

Donator crate keys will be in the donator’s monthly kits.

All nighter - common crate

Afterparty - rare crate

Addicted partier - legendary crate

All three keys are attainable by using /vote. When you vote you will be randomly given a crate key of either all nighter, after party or addicted partier. These crates can also be obtained from other crates, however, at a low percent chance.

What will be in the Crates

Gift Bag -

8% chance 15,000 faction coins

20% chance of sharpness 3 book

20% chance of loot 2 book

10% chance of fire aspect 2 book

10% - 32 obsidian

10% - 16 TNT

1.5% - All nighter crate

0.5% - afterparty crate

Faction events

These events would be a great twist to Fractions, to keep it exciting and thrilling.

Monthly PVP Events

This would be a fun way of helping improve people’s pvp skills, for when they go into battle with other Factions. There could be duels between two players, multiple fights throughout the day (or time period the event goes on for) and the last two players go head to head. Another type of game could be free for all- in which the last player standing wins. The winner each month would get some sort of prize to help their faction expand. Either some money to their in game balance, a crate key or a rare item.

Drop Parties

This event could either be monthly, or every few months, or be random! Items such as diamonds, enchants and crate keys will be dropped by a staff member at a fixed point in the map, for example spawn.

Yearly Top Faction

Every year, the in game top faction will get a prize to help expand their faction even more. The top faction is decided in game by certain features. How much money your faction has, how much land it has and how much power it has. All of which are recorded by the plugin, and able to be displayed to players when they do the command /f top (or something similar.) The prize would be pretty big (but fair enough so that other Factions are still able to challenge the winner)

Why should PartyZone implement this idea?

At the moment, many games that have been implemented haven’t been a high demand from the player base - such as “Party Games”. The mini-game “Party Games” was not suggested by the community, and although being popular when first released, it’s now rare to find people wanting to play. Implementing a game of high demand will have people playing it. Currently, in mine and many others opinions, creative and murder are the only two games keeping the server together as a such.

Factions would also help to expand the community, giving all types of people an option to play. Creative is good for those who like role plays, or enjoy building etc., but Factions would be good for the types of people who enjoy pvp, strategics and similar activities. It would also be good for people who do enjoy a bit of drama, to let it out in a way that is appropriate. The whole idea of Factions is to raid bases, destroy other Factions while making your own bigger. This concept would allow those who enjoy drama, to do it, but in a way that everyone is okay with.

Furthermore, Factions is loved by a wide range of people. Personally I think there’s nothing better than a bit of competition. Factions with a PartyZone twist can help expand the server, and give current players a new experience of the server. While some may say this idea is unoriginal, I believe many players love Factions and would want to play, regardless of whether it is unoriginal or not. By adding a few small twists, like some we’ve suggested, it will add new aspects to the game, making it more unique.

Credit to Richhi, Matt02, scbrina and The2GoldenSpoons for helping with this idea.

Please don’t lock this thread, I’m not “copying” someone else’s idea, just reiterating the fact that a lot of users want it, as well as adding on my own ideas and suggestions. I’ve spent a long time on this thread it be considered and hopefully implemented.

Wow the people who wrote this must be supa cool!

I like factions, and I am a fan of this suggestion my only worry is that the players that factions usually brings with it can be toxic and disrespectful to one another. Another thing is Im sure a lot of coding would have to be done for factions to be implemented, this might be a struggle because currently the server has I believe, three developers, but perhaps if we get more sometime soon this can be put into effect! As previously mentioned, toxic players can be dealt with by staff. We shouldn’t let the fear of toxic players stop pz from expanding and creating a game mode that is going to be enjoyable to many people.

As for the coding, I believe it isn’t too hard. Of course I’m not a coder, but the main premis of factions is pretty simple. Commands to create a faction, commands inside your faction (eg to promote players) and y’know all your basic faction commands. I guess the trickier side would be additios that I myself and other players have mentioned. But again I don’t believe we’ve suggested anything incredibly hard to code. I think the main problem is the lack of developers. So this idea should be waited on until pz has more developers and more important things like bugs/glitches in games for example is dealt with
