Max buried their head in the covers of their bed.
Max let out a long scream, anguished, recalling Monokuma's last words before they all fled from the Class Trial hall.
"The next motive will be arriving. 2 days, kiddos, 2 days.."
"AAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHHH!"
Max buried their head again. Tears streaming down their cheeks, landing on the bedsheets.
After a while, Max got up and slumped on the lounge sofa, resting their head on the windowsill. The window looked out on to the pool, where nobody could be seen. It was like a desert. It wouldn't have been inconvenient to see a tumbleweed roll by.
Max buried their head in their hands. It's a dream. It's a dream.
It's not reality at all. It's just some sick dream. Some sick, disgusting nightmare.
I'll wake up. I'll wake up in my bed.
And I'll get ready for school. Go to school.
Meet my class.
I'll be happy again. In school. In Hope's Peak.
...but I just need to wake up. How long will it be before I wake up? An eternity? It feels like an eternity that I've been here already; I want to go home.
Eventually, I felt myself fall asleep. Nothing seemed real. I just fell asleep. I didn't want to wake up from that sleep. I'd happily fall asleep and die then and there if it got me out of this hell.

"GOOD MORNING STUDENTS! It is now 7AM. Enjoy the day!"
After gathering all of their strength, Max found the determination to stand.
The restaurant. Everyone should be gathering there. Or.. at least that's what we should be doing in this situation. Sticking together.
Sluggishly walking around the pool, Max saw Kanna outside the lobby.
"Oh.. Max, hey."
"Hey, Kanna. How are you, since yesterday?"
"...How can anyone be OK after that?" Kanna twiddled her thumbs.
"...I know what you mean. We should be at the restaurant. Let's go.."
Max and Kanna made their way in to the lobby.
In the lobby, Sora and Luna could be seen. Luna stood, hands on hips, behind Sora who was avidly tapping buttons on the arcade machine.
"It's bad for your eyes." Luna squinted at the back of his motionless head.
"There's no evidence for that."
"Ugh, just.. You shouldn't constantly play that crap. You should socialize with the group more. Otherwise we'll never get anywhere. People will keep dying, like Tabitha and Kaya. You're smart. I know you are. So come on." Luna snatched Sora's sleeve and began dragging him away from the arcade machine, kicking and screaming as Pac-Man ran in to Blinky.
"NO-- NO! I WAS DOING SO WELL MY HIGH SCORE---"
"Ah, for god's sake. Shuddup."
Sora's scrambling legs disappeared up the stairs, to which Kanna began to giggle.
"Did I just see what I think I saw?" Max looked on in awe.
"I'm confused too." Kanna giggled. "Was Luna being caring just now?"
"...I think she was."
After getting to the top of the stairs, Max and Kanna noticed that a lot of the islanders were already there. The only ones missing were Chiaro and Niji.
Alteca, standing in the middle of the restaurant, was assessing the other students as they began to push tables and chairs to one side.
"Alteca? What's going on?" Max asked.
"Oh. You'll see in a second. I've just send Etsuko and Whisp to get Chiaro and Niji so we can all be here for this. I want to talk to all of you, so, thank you for coming." Alteca gave a smile.
Max and Kanna went and helped push a table that was blocking the restaurant's side entrance over to the corner. Alexia stood at one of the tables, her eyes seemingly burning with fury.
"Alright! Next one! Where's the next one? I'll catapult those tables so far!"
"A-Alexia..!" Kanna grabbed her sleeve as she ran aggressively at Gray, who flinched (and let out what sounded like the cutest tiniest scream under his breath), and held up a chair to protect himself. Kanna held her back, yanking out a chair and sitting Alexia down, beginning to get her to calm down.
"A-Ah.. Uhm.." Max looked around. Nothing was normal, but people seemed to be oblivious to what had just happened; it was like Luna and Alexia had switched bodies... or personalities.
"Confused? We're all just as confused." Raven pushed a two-person table over to the wall.
"Is everyone OK? After what just happened."
"To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. Whisp and Etsuko were shaken. Whisp burst out crying and Etsuko was just... well... she tried to comfort her, but after a minute or so Etsuko ended up bursting out crying too."
"..So was that why Alteca sent them to get Chiaro and Niji?"
"I'd guess so. They maybe.. needed a walk."
Luna stood in the corner suspending Sora by his collar, by now he was limp and helpless as he seemed to move swiftly in unusual ways. His legs went in circles, every so often kicking Luna, to which she would glare at him. At one point, Sora calmed down - setting him down on a chair at a table, you could see Luna say "socialize" right before Sora made a mad dash for downstairs. Luna hopped over the stair railing and on to the stairs before Sora let out a mad cry of defeat or maybe because he was scared
Niji and Chiaro walked through the side-entrance to the restaurant. Niji looked over at Alteca, he mimed: "help"
Whisp clung to his arm, tugging on it until she saw Gray. She ran over to Gray and began to avidly talk to him, to which Gray had no idea what to do. Niji let out a sigh of relief, but then turned his attention to Chiaro who was bent over with a weeping Etsuko hanging over her. Niji began to slowly and gently lift Etsuko off of her. Chiaro fell to the ground, defeated. Alexia, who had calmed down, walked with Kanna to help Chiaro up. Chiaro spoke quietly, in a skitterish tone. "how can a girl so small be so heavy?"
"Anyway, we're all here now. The tables have been moved, so it's time to start." Alteca began, he asked everyone to form a line, and so, everyone did. "I gathered you all here in this way because I want to clear something up. I want everyone to tell us the secrets they got in their pamphlet from the first motive."
From this, a few mutters could be heard from the line.
"Alteca, what are you thinking--" Niji looked at Alteca, bemused.
"Hear me out, Niji." Alteca began yet again, "I feel that if we clear these things up, we can make amends so that nobody holds any grudges or still feels that those secrets are true. So, I would like to ask if you could all stand to the left of the person that you got a pamphlet for. If you got a one that was about me, stand on the right end of the line."
Everyone complied; they began to awkwardly shuffle in to their places in the line.

"Ok. I think that I should be the one to start if I am to cause something to happen, so, We're going to start with Gray telling us what he found about me."
Gray seemed to be looking off into space.
"Oh, you mean me?" Gray pointed to himself.
"Yeah." Alteca nodded. Chiaro raised her hand. "Oh, one second, Yeah, Chiaro, what is it?"
"Can I.. Can I go get the pamphlet from my room? I forgot what it was.. sorry.." Chiaro looked down at her hands to distract her from any judgemental looks she would get (even though she didn't get any).
"Oh, Ok, Yeah, just hurry back, Ok?" Alteca nodded and Chiaro hurried off.
"Ok so.. Mine said that you were the mastermind. That you're only keepin' us alive 'cause you want a certain person." Gray muttered under his breath. "Load of crap scribbled on some scrap paper if you ask me."
"I agree. That is not true whatsoever, even though I may have no evidence to prove it. If I were the mastermind, would I not just take the "person I want" upfront?" Alteca moved on to the next person. "Max, what did yours say about Gray?"
Max was caught off guard.
"Ah! Gray's was about something to do with him being the mastermind. That he got us here via his hacking abilities and knows every little detail about us..." Max scratched the back of their head.
"WELL AIN'T THAT CRAP! I only hack companies, not an individual person's crappy PC." Gray shrugged.
"Raven?" Alteca moved on, as he did so, Chiaro came running back into the restaurant and fit herself back into her space in the line.
"It was basically that Max actually knows their talent. Nothing much."
"Luna?"
"Same as what Raven said. That Raven knows her talent, and that she's hiding something under the hood she always wears."
"Chiaro?"
"A-Ah!" Chiaro caught her breath, "Mine was about.." She opened her pamphlet, turned it around and showed it to everyone, "That Luna has murdered before this, even if she can't remember it, and to be wary of her." At this, Luna laughed a bit as if it was a petty lie.
"Kaya's and Tabitha's pamphlets were about Chiaro and Kaya. Kaya's read the same as Luna's and Raven's did, that Chiaro could remember her talent. Tabitha's, as we already know, said that Kaya was a spy and reporting back to the mastermind. Whisp?"
"Whisp's paper said that Blue-Girl was a constant liar."
"Alexia?"
"Mine was about Whisp. It said something along the lines of 'Whisp is ready to kill if she needs to. Her cute personality isn't anything to be fooled by'"
"Etsuko?"
"Etsuko's paper said that Converse-Girl could run at 100 miles per hour! Is that true!?" Etsuko looked with sparkling eyes at Alexia who replied with 'Ah.. I wish'
"Sora?"
"Somethin' about bein' a liar, that she doesn't speak like that normally." Etsuko looked at Sora, confused, and said "Does Etsuko have an accent that Etsuko doesn't know about?"
"Niji?"
"Mine was talking about how Sora doesn't enjoy games really and just does it to hide his real talent." He beat snake, Max thought, that takes talent.
"Kanna?"
"The paper I got was about Niji. It said something like.. Niji knows what's going on, and who the mastermind is but he won't say because they're his friend."
"I guess that leaves myself, then. The paper I got was about Kanna, and it said that, like Tabitha's paper about Kaya, Kanna was reporting back to the mastermind with what was going on daily. Does that clear everything up?"
Everybody looked at each other, but nobody seemed to really be uncomfortable or embarrassed. The secrets weren't as bad as they thought.
"Damn. I thought they were gonna say some stuff like, 'They wet the bed' 'They're actually a boy'. Damn I wanted some drama." Luna folded her arms. Sora let out a muffled plea under his breath,
"Can I go back to Pac-Man yet..?"
Some people left the restaurant, including Max, to go somewhere else. Max intended to go to the supermarket and see what they had. However, from behind Max emerged a person.
"Hey, Max, Can I talk to you for a second?" It was Raven.
"Oh, sure, but just don't kill me." Max sneered back.
"Your paper didn't really say that, it said about how you have stuff like Anxiety, Autism, and it said Depression too."
"...And you covered it up?" Max turned around to face Raven, even though you couldn't see her face under the shadow of her hood; you could never see her face under it, even in the broad daylight.
"...Was I not supposed to? I've.. I've seen what happens to people when stuff like that happens. They treat you like a kid. Ask you stuff like 'Are you sure?' 'How are you today?' 'You should go and sit back for today. I'll do whatever you need to do.' 'Are you sure you're OK doing that sort of thing?'. They treat you like you can't stand on your own two feet."
"..Thank you. I know what you mean. I.. I don't want people to belittle me. Thank you for understanding."
Raven walked to Max, taking a pamphlet out of her pocket and placing it in Max's hand.
"That's the secret. You should have it. I don't want you being treated like a lower member of the group because of it. Take it."
Max stared down at the piece of paper which read:
'Max has Anxiety, Autism, and Depression. Furthermore, Max secretly knows their talent, and hides it from everyone, since it would be a very controversial talent if they told the rest of the students.'
Max looked up from the paper. Raven had started to walk back down the path, back to the hotel.
"R-Raven!" Max shouted after her. She turned around. Max walked to her. "Thank you, but, could I ask you something?"
Raven looked at Max, seemingly confused, but nodded.
"...The one Luna read. About you hiding something under your hood. Was that one a lie, too?" Max tried to peer through the overcast shadow of her hood to see her face. She quickly noticed Max doing this, and turned around.
"..Even if it was true, there's no reason to have any suspicion over it.. It's nothing that could kill a person. I just.. Don't want to take it down--"
"But why?" Max quickly intervened.

Raven put her head down slightly, and turned a bit;
"I'll see you later, Max." She began walking.

"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING STUDENTS! IT'S ANOTHER BRIGHT AND SUNNY DAY! PLEASE GATHER AT THE AIRPORT. IMMEDIATELY. HURRY ALONG, HURRY ALONG.."
Max sluggishly got up from bed. Another morning, where Max has woken up to a reality that feels so surreal.
Max got dressed and tied their shoes, stepping out the door, Max saw Chiaro.
"Chiaro? Are you going to the airport, too?"
Chiaro gulped, "I wish I didn't have to, but.."
Max looked at Chiaro, confused, but upon observation, Max looked down to see Monokuma rapidly hitting Chiaro's leg with his blunt fists.
"Move along! Move along! Get to the airport, ya delinquent!"
Max and Chiaro hurried along to the airport, where Monokuma standing before the other students. Monokuma can either teleport, or is just very, very fast.
"AH! It seems you are all here, so, let us begin!" Monokuma started, "You are all in for a very fun motive today, kids! Ok! Everyone is definitely here.. And on the count of three.."
"OI! What's going on? At least explain what's going on here first!" Luna pointed at Monokuma, who, even though he could only make one expression, looked at her as if to say 'seriously?'
"For once, I agree with Luna. I want to ask what's going on.." Niji looked down at Monokuma.
"Oh, You'll see. You'll all see. You're all just some rowdy kids who can't be patient. Let me show you what I mean."
The bags and suitcases to the right of everyone suddenly began to jam on the conveyor belt that they were on. They built up; everyone began to stare at what was happening. All of a sudden, they began to shake. People began to step back, even though they were about 10-15 metres away.
"E-Everybody run!" Gray shouted out, Everybody began to bolt for the door.. Only to find that the door wouldn't open. The suitcases began to clatter, before they imploded; releasing a visible gas.
"C-Cover your mouths! Don't breathe it in!" Niji covered his mouth. Max covered their mouth and nose, and began to strain their eyes. The gas soon seeped through small gaps in their fingers. They all ended up breathing it in, as they all began to limply fall to the ground and be subdued by the gas.
Max looked out to everyone who had limply fell. Niji, struggling to their left, looked at Max, his eyes watering, and shook his head. Max took this as a 'Don't give in, Don't give in' but Max couldn't last any longer. It smelled foul. Max was overcome with an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion. Max gave in, droopily falling to the ground.

"...Was I not supposed to? I've.. I've seen what happens to people when stuff like that happens. They treat you like a kid. Ask you stuff like 'Are you sure?' 'How are you today?' 'You should go and sit back for today. I'll do whatever you need to do.' 'Are you sure you're OK doing that sort of thing?'. They treat you like you can't stand on your own two feet."
"..Thank you. I know what you mean. I.. I don't want people to belittle me. Thank you for understanding."
Raven walked to Max, taking a pamphlet out of her pocket and placing it in Max's hand.
"That's the secret. You should have it. I don't want you being treated like a lower member of the group because of it. Take it."
Max stared down at the piece of paper which read:
'Max has Anxiety, Autism, and Depression. Furthermore, Max secretly knows their talent, and hides it from everyone, since it would be a very controversial talent if they told the rest of the students.'
Max looked up from the paper. Raven had started to walk back down the path, back to the hotel.
"R-Raven!" Max shouted after her. She turned around. Max walked to her. "Thank you, but, could I ask you something?"
Raven looked at Max, seemingly confused, but nodded.
"...The one Luna read. About you hiding something under your hood. Was that one a lie, too?" Max tried to peer through the overcast shadow of her hood to see her face. She quickly noticed Max doing this, and turned around.
"..Even if it was true, there's no reason to have any suspicion over it.. It's nothing that could kill a person. I just.. Don't want to take it down--"
"But why?" Max quickly intervened.
pause
Raven put her head down slightly, and turned a bit;
"I'll see you later, Max." She began walking.
bing bong ding dong
"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING STUDENTS! IT'S ANOTHER BRIGHT AND SUNNY DAY! PLEASE GATHER AT THE AIRPORT. IMMEDIATELY. HURRY ALONG, HURRY ALONG.."
Max sluggishly got up from bed. Another morning, where Max has woken up to a reality that feels so surreal.
Max got dressed and tied their shoes, stepping out the door, Max saw Chiaro.
"Chiaro? Are you going to the airport, too?"
Chiaro gulped, "I wish I didn't have to, but.."
Max looked at Chiaro, confused, but upon observation, Max looked down to see Monokuma rapidly hitting Chiaro's leg with his blunt fists.
"Move along! Move along! Get to the airport, ya delinquent!"
Max and Chiaro hurried along to the airport, where Monokuma standing before the other students. Monokuma can either teleport, or is just very, very fast.
"AH! It seems you are all here, so, let us begin!" Monokuma started, "You are all in for a very fun motive today, kids! Ok! Everyone is definitely here.. And on the count of three.."
"OI! What's going on? At least explain what's going on here first!" Luna pointed at Monokuma, who, even though he could only make one expression, looked at her as if to say 'seriously?'
"For once, I agree with Luna. I want to ask what's going on.." Niji looked down at Monokuma.
"Oh, You'll see. You'll all see. You're all just some rowdy kids who can't be patient. Let me show you what I mean."
The bags and suitcases to the right of everyone suddenly began to jam on the conveyor belt that they were on. They built up; everyone began to stare at what was happening. All of a sudden, they began to shake. People began to step back, even though they were about 10-15 metres away.
"E-Everybody run!" Gray shouted out, Everybody began to bolt for the door.. Only to find that the door wouldn't open. The suitcases began to clatter, before they imploded; releasing a visible gas.
"C-Cover your mouths! Don't breathe it in!" Niji covered his mouth. Max covered their mouth and nose, and began to strain their eyes. The gas soon seeped through small gaps in their fingers. They all ended up breathing it in, as they all began to limply fall to the ground and be subdued by the gas.
Max looked out to everyone who had limply fell. Niji, struggling to their left, looked at Max, his eyes watering, and shook his head. Max took this as a 'Don't give in, Don't give in' but Max couldn't last any longer. It smelled foul. Max was overcome with an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion. Max gave in, droopily falling to the ground.
