Better off without the lies,
So spread your wings and fly,
Fly up, up in the sky.. " -Etgar
Hello PartyZone! I want to discuss a serious topic with you all.. Bullies.
I've been reading this Afrikaans book which is called 'Vlerke Vir Almal' (Wings for everyone) And it's about this teenager who stands up against bullies and starts this secret society for victims of bullying and etc. The reason why the title of the book was 'Wings for everyone' is because the book is based off of butterflies. The butterfly resembles hope in the world. A new chance in life. (When the caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.) We all have wings, and some of us don't know it yet, we need to find that one thing that makes us want to fly, and that's why I wanted to share my opinion about this with you all.
Now in the middle of the book, this kid gets bullied and everyone stood there, in shock. They didn't know what to do, until Dewald (the main character) decided to make a butterfly movement with his hands, and then literally the whole school did that movement and it basically showed the bully that they were one huge group of kids, who are against bullying.
That part in the book was actually very sweet, a few weeks ago the author of the book came to our school to discuss it with us. (And also to sell it >.< ) But he explained that he went all over the world and met so many new people from different cultures, beliefs, different sexualities, genders, ages, races and the list goes on. He also mentioned that he in fact told those people about the butterfly bullying idea and they were so excited to be part of it. So they told their friends about it and their friends told others. It got so huge that people from different countries recorded themselves doing the butterfly movement and sent it to the author. He later made a video about it.
The video sends shivers down my spine, because it's so powerful. Humans, reuniting together. Amazing. That's how I want to see the world in the future, how I want to see Party Zone.. We all are so special yet some people think it's 'funny' to watch others suffer. We all want the same thing in life, happiness, and I don't get why people bully others. So that's why I'm making this thread, to tell you all that you are not alone. I myself have been through a lot of scary moments, feelings and thoughts.. This community is so special to me and I just want everyone to be themselves and love one another.
Anywho.. If you ever feel unhappy, please talk to me, or in fact, anyone who you trust! I'm currently seeing a psychologist and you have no idea what it feels like to have those heavy weights off of your shoulders.
Here are a few groups I think you should join if you ever feel alone, unwanted or unloved.
