"You are like a butterfly,
Better off without the lies,
So spread your wings and fly,

Fly up, up in the sky.. " -Etgar

Hello PartyZone! I want to discuss a serious topic with you all.. Bullies.

I've been reading this Afrikaans book which is called 'Vlerke Vir Almal' (Wings for everyone) And it's about this teenager who stands up against bullies and starts this secret society for victims of bullying and etc. The reason why the title of the book was 'Wings for everyone' is because the book is based off of butterflies. The butterfly resembles hope in the world. A new chance in life. (When the caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.) We all have wings, and some of us don't know it yet, we need to find that one thing that makes us want to fly, and that's why I wanted to share my opinion about this with you all.

Now in the middle of the book, this kid gets bullied and everyone stood there, in shock. They didn't know what to do, until Dewald (the main character) decided to make a butterfly movement with his hands, and then literally the whole school did that movement and it basically showed the bully that they were one huge group of kids, who are against bullying.

That part in the book was actually very sweet, a few weeks ago the author of the book came to our school to discuss it with us. (And also to sell it >.< ) But he explained that he went all over the world and met so many new people from different cultures, beliefs, different sexualities, genders, ages, races and the list goes on. He also mentioned that he in fact told those people about the butterfly bullying idea and they were so excited to be part of it. So they told their friends about it and their friends told others. It got so huge that people from different countries recorded themselves doing the butterfly movement and sent it to the author. He later made a video about it.

The video sends shivers down my spine, because it's so powerful. Humans, reuniting together. Amazing. That's how I want to see the world in the future, how I want to see Party Zone.. We all are so special yet some people think it's 'funny' to watch others suffer. We all want the same thing in life, happiness, and I don't get why people bully others. So that's why I'm making this thread, to tell you all that you are not alone. I myself have been through a lot of scary moments, feelings and thoughts.. This community is so special to me and I just want everyone to be themselves and love one another.

Anywho.. If you ever feel unhappy, please talk to me, or in fact, anyone who you trust! I'm currently seeing a psychologist and you have no idea what it feels like to have those heavy weights off of your shoulders. :)

Here are a few groups I think you should join if you ever feel alone, unwanted or unloved.

I was crying, I'm an Assyrian from Iraq and I can tell from Iraq she may be one of my people. My people, the Christian-Assyrians.

Everything was beautiful aside from that.

I get judged for saying I'm fat and all, but I fly far into the sky and discover the most wonderful miracles.

Thanks, Nix, this was so inspirational. We are all so lucky to have someone thoughtful like you. <3

This was beautiful, Etgar. Threads like this put all my faith back into humanity after what's happened in the past couple months. :)

The analogy of a butterfly meaning a second chance is incorrect, the caterpillar isn't getting a 'second chance' it's growing up.
A better one would be of a cat, we have 9 lives, that's 9 chances.
The butterfly could symbolize growth though.

The reason why I say a butterfly resembles a 'new chance' is because we all start as caterpillars, don't we? Caterpillars don't have wings, which means they can't fly anywhere and be 'free'. We're just like caterpillars, we don't know what our purpose is. Until we found that one thing that makes us want to fly. We all are looking for that important something, that important person, that important reason to keep trying. And when we found them, we will finally be able to fly. To be free from the pain and sorrows. And plus, I didn't write the book, so I didn't come up with it. :)

Still symbolizes growth more than a second chance.

One word my friend, cats.

This post was truthfully beautiful. The emotion and thought that went into writing this is incredible.

Not all of them have put up walls.
Some are genuinely tyrants.
