THE OREGON TRAIL INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Oregon Trail game. There is a party of five people per wagon and there 6 wagons per 1 wagon train. In every wagon, out of the five people, there is one leader. This person is the spokesperson for the entire wagon. But all of the wagon people can make an agreement on a decision.

THE OREGON TRAIL ROLES:

Hunter - Hunts for food, some animals are deer, horse, pig, cow etc.
Leader - Helps confirm decisions and is the spokesperson for the entire group.
Takeover - If the leader dies, this person takes over the wagon.
Handler - If the wagon group disagrees with a decision this person takes over and makes a final decision.
Wagon Bystander - This role does nothing but makes decisions with the rest of the group.

NOTE: There will be a randomizer to pick the roles for your wagon.

STARTING ROLES (LEADER PICKS ONLY):

A banker from New York - You have a budget of $1600.00 to buy supplies for your wagon.
A carpenter from Ohio - You have a budget of $1400.00 to buy all types of supplies for your wagon.
Be a farmer from Illinois - You only have $400.00 to spend on supplies for your wagon.

OREGON TRAIL SHOP:

- OXEN $40.00 per yoke - There are 2 oxen per yoke, a recommendation would be 3 yoke, which leads up to six oxen. If you multiply 2 x 3 you get a total of 6 oxen in all. (Your complete total would be $120.00)
- FOOD $00.20 per pound - A recommendation of 200 pounds of food will fill up the entire wagon. Your total in all for the food only is $40.00
- AMMUNITION 20 bullets per box for only $2.00 - A recommendation of 5 boxes will lead up to a total of $10.00 with only the ammunition.
- SPARE WAGON PARTS max of 3 spare parts for $10.00 each. Spare wagon parts include wagon wheels, wagon axles, and wagon tounges. I recommend getting 3 of each. Which will lead to $90.00 with only the spare wagon parts.

NOTE: You can always visit the shop whenever you'd like, but make sure to look at how much more money you have to spend.

  • This information helps show the date, the weather, your health, how much pounds of food you have, how many miles till your next landmark and how many miles you traveled.

  • This is the date. Speaking of the date, you can decide which month to leave, March, April, May, June, October, December or January.

  • This information needs to be seen during your trail with the wagon trail.
It would be wonderful to hear your questions, concerns and other ideas considering this game!
I will have a player suggestion section and I will try and update this thread when needed a dramatic change.

Thanks for reading! <3

PLAYER SUGGESTIONS:

- 5hriyana Says: "Though maybe at the end of the game we can see who really made it to the Oregon Trail, who ever had more pounds of food, great health, etc, will be the winner of the game?

And maybe add that we can have a Lead Wagon to make an entire decision for the Wagon Train?
You'll have the choices in A, B, C order. And you can do /vote [a.b.c] in the game to pick your choice? Then after you can see results, and it will be a final decision with the Lead Wagon. Also if the died on the trail the are spectaters."

- HxpeOfMxrning says, "also question, how long will the game be?": NEW! Time Limit - About 20 minutes per round or 25. Maybe if you didn't finish the Oregon Trail a description of each wagons, health, food, and pace will be show and will be calculated as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, etc?

I love the idea, but it doesn't feel really like a minigame, it feels more like a full on server that would be reset every couple of weeks or so

Personally, I think this could ne very fun. I would play it. But like stated before, I feel it would be quite long and big for just a minigame. Just a question also, how long would the game for for?
For now staying neutral.

What's the objective of this? What do players have to do before the game ends? Is there an opposing team in which the players will be competing against? Like stated above this seems more of a server idea and doesn't feel like it's meant to be a mini-game.

This is a much bigger idea for a game and I think it would work as an event since they are popular and are very big. Another reason why I think this should be an event is that once the game ends what do you do, in events you would get a prize for completing it.

It's not meant to become a PVP game, where they compete against each other, it's something different, like a choose-your-path game. Multiple choices in order to survive the Oregon Trail.

[EDIT]: Though maybe at the end of the game we can see who really made it to the Oregon Trail, who ever had more pounds of food, great health, etc, will be the winner of the game?

The only problem would be that players would quickly finish the choosable paths and get bored (I'm not saying I don't like the idea because it seems very well put together and I really do like it) which is why it should be implemented as an event and every year/month the paths are different.

This is actually a pretty decent, long game. It doesn't finish as quick and that's why it's about 20-25 minutes per round.

You just gave a basic layout for a game not a game. I have played this game when I in was about 10 or 11 at the time. I understand where you are going yet describe more of how the game will work or work differently from the orginal game.
...
Also can you make it a bit more organized? It's hard to see what you are trying to say. Or maybe make it more detailed.
...
Ideas or the game
1.)Scoreboard thing shows food supplies all that stuff and the miles till the end.
2.) Like in murder you vote for maps but instead you vote for options.
3.) Also maybe you actually move with the wagon like in real person mode.
4.) Up the players that can play? So 4 to 15 players? 3 of each type of role?
5.) Make the game more active. Allow players to do side objective such as making fur into yarn. Then making the yarn into clothes. Fixing the wagon(s)
...
Sorry for the amount of suggestions yet there isn't much to go off of this game.

  1. Yep.
  2. Mhm. Though if you want to make like themed maps, I'll be fine with that.
  3. That's actually what I'm going for, not pixelated or anything like that. I'm basing it off of the game.
  4. I believe you need 30 players to start since there are 6 wagons and 5 people per wagon. So 5 people per wagon will have a randomized role.
  5. Well, fixing the wagons is a good one, and you can stop to rest for however many days you want.

NOTE: Sometimes if you try and repair the wagon it may not go out the right way, so you can replace it with the wagon-wheels, axles, etc.
