Before we start I just want to say I am a terrible writer so please don't judge lol, just try to enjoy the story. And also this is kind of an introduction, so no characters have really been introduced yet. And lastly, the book is in first person in the Bus Drivers eyes, I'm going to change that to one of the characters. See how that happens later. So...enjoy!
It's been two days. Two days since our city has been in chaos over the zombie outbreak just a few miles away. And with this all happening, I'm suprised I had to go to work today. The zombies broke out just 10 miles west of the city of Shendsi. I would expect our schools would be shut down too. People are stupid...risking the lives of children...If I was the government, I would've already put the city on lockdown. I am a bus driver, by the way, Toby Johnson is the name. The bus was relatively empty today, though. Only about 15 kids on the bus at the moment. It's good to know some parents are realizing it's not safe outside anymore. When the principle called me at 3:00 in the morning and told me I had to work today, I almost passed out. Am I the only one still sane? I guess so. However, the kids seemed fine. Laughing and talking as usual. It's like nobody really realizes what's really going on out there. I was just hoping the zombies haven't reached our city yet. I'm hoping our Army (yes Army) can take down these zombies as soon as possible. But theyre really strong. Already 25 people reportedly dead, and that scares me. There are at least 400 zombies out there. I fear for some of these children, theyre my world at this point. My parents died when I was little, and I'm not married, so I live a pretty lonely life, I would say.
We soon were almost at the schools, I say schools because the middle and high schools are right next to eachother, so I take children of all ages. I turned on the radio, because that usually calms the children down a lot. It was getting extremely loud inside the bus, though, and I just tried to block out the noise and focus on the road. But then I heard a scream, and another, and another. I look back for one second and BANG. A zombie had grabbed onto the bus and started banging on the front window. The bus was chaos. The zombie started to make a dent in the glass, and I didn't know what to do. I couldn't take my eyes off this zombie though, what would make someone create these monsters? I will always hate whoever let these creatures loose. There were cries, yells, screams, and then, glass shattering. There was a zombie inside our bus. Without think I got up, grabbed a metal pipe and swung it across the things head. Oh, it was dead for sure, but I forgot one thing. I left the bus going and it was heading straight for a building. It was too late to do anything, and before I knew it, I fell hard to the ground, glass and metal flying all around, and somehow, someway, I'm alive. No, there is so much pain I must be dying, except I'm not. I look down: No blood on my clothes. I feel my head though. Blood. And a lot of it. However this is the least of my worries. I look back, and see at least 4 children lying on the ground, covered in blood, motionless. This cannot be real.
To be continued...
Again in chapter two I will be introducing characters! Stay tuned!
