Why

"Out with the old and in with the new." (As stated on PZ twitter) also to open up more names for people to use, as well as clearing up some old posts and things

Who

Only non-ranks who have not been active for at least two years, also with less than 10 messages and less than 500 trophy points.

I have seen many questions saying: "Can I have my changed to <blah> but I can't, there is an inactive account with that name?", I think this will be a tremendous Idea but there can be some flaws.. I have some.
  • People are inactive with VIP or up
    • Why am I bring this up?
    • Because some people like old staff members leave forever. For MissyWii, She left since she resigned..
  • There can be people who have more then 500 trophy points.
+1 tho! :)

I am against this and here's why.
There is a possibility these users could come back. It would be unfair to them to see that they no longer have an account.
Even if they have been gone for 2 years that does not mean they will not come back.

I agree! I wouldn't like to see my account deleted after I'm back after 2 months! -1 :(

The thread says 2 YEARS
Yes, but still, it doesn't matter.
People can come back again, after two years and they come back seeing their account deleted?
I mean, all of those trophy points and profile posts are all gone? Ratings all gone? I personally either like that whatsoever.

And non-ranks? That isn't okay! Why not ranked players as well? I'm sorry but I remain with my opinion, -1

Maybe if a user is gone for a year or 2, it wont delete their account, it would just delete their name so IF they come back, they just need a new name

Even this would make people mad. Our names that we go by online are a large part of us, and most of us would get mad. I can see this still causing issues.

Stated in many posts above, people can come back even after 2 years. It's highly unlike they will come back, but It's not impossible.

I also have a list of things that would negatively affect forums.
- Premiums basically don't get this rule, as stated in the first post in this thread, which is unfair.
- It is likely that the software used for forums is incapable of doing this automatically.
- If staff were to do this manually, It would be very hard to check every player and their time away on forums.
- Introducing this will likely cause fake identities.
- An in-active player's posts may be seen every day, thus this being implemented will delete them.

Sorry, but It's a no-do for me.

If it's been two years and they have less than 10 messages, what is really lost?

I am staying neutral on this because; yes, it would clear many inactive accounts and free up names however there's a chance they will return.

+1 I like how you stated the 10 messages thing. With that combining with 2 years inactive.
...
The likely hood of someone coming back after 2 years is unlikely to be honest. Also @Amoraa they have less than 10 messages and less than 500 trophy points. I can agree upon premiums/ranked should be affected by this too. This process might be hard to do yet I bet there is a simple solution to this. We don't need to worry about if this will take a long time and we don't know if it will or not.

If they do return, it's not hard at all to get back to where they were, but if they have a cool name like "Fox" and @FlavoredFox wants to have it then it's not really fair for FlavoredFox.

It's not fair to delete players accounts without their consent, regardless of time. People register for a reason, and despite their activity on the forums they still have the right to control what happens to their account. An account to someone is their identity, and this suggestion practically states to delete who they are from our forums. -1. I know for sure I wouldn't agree with my account being deleted even if I wasn't that active.

I'm writing a new post.
I think this idea is pretty useful, as there are a lot of forum profiles that haven't been used in a while and I don't think they'll come back. If they do decide to come back, they could easily make a new account. However, I'm still not sure if this idea is perfect so I'm going to stick neutral for now.

*EDIT*
Looking at @Emohh's recent post, I agree with him. The user should be able to decide whether or not they want their account to be deleted.
