I think it would be awesome to have the ability to lock your own thread.

This option would appear in "Thread options" where it currently allows you to change the title.

I created this because it is more convenient then asking a staff member to lock your thread for you, and wasting their time. As well as making it more convenient for you.

EDIT ONE: This would only be allowed after a certain number of people reply to the thread. (2-3)
EDIT TWO: (Didn't see @Amcra 's response) There would also be a pop-up on your screen asking you weather or not you want to lock your thread, explaining that you cannot unlock your thread, etc.

Editing post to show an explaination on why this can be useful c:

I can see pros and cons with this. I've seen @Kona's post and she's absoloutly correct and has a very good point, that it can be abused and other wrongs.
Though I also disagree with her.

Seeing as it's wasting more time for staff to handle thread locks than having to actually do more important things (such as ban appeals, forum moderation, guides, etc.) they have to be tagged, and then they'll come over in about a couple of hours (or sometimes about a day, not mocking at all c: ) to lock your thread. It'll be much easier to actually lock the thread yourself and not have to waste time for other people to do something for you.

Though @AnEmeraldAndTea, there should be some sort of message saying that "Are you sure you'd like to do this?" (or in the sort of line) before actually locking the thread.

And maybe for an addition, you can unlock the thread. If you want the post to keep going. Though the actual 2 week cold post thing will still be there, I'm just saying if you want to unlock the thread in 3 days later, after you post the thread, then feel free to unlock the thread.

After those 2 weeks you may not unlock the thread as it is in the global rules:
"Do not bump a thread that has been cold for over two weeks."

+0 From me for now.

I have no idea how this would turn out but imma wait for other people's opinions and try to base my thought after i read some feedback

I think this would be beneficial, but I think for some suggestions who people are against and the person who originally suggested it is getting rage-y, they may lock the thread, which would prevent people explaining their views and opinions. Also, I think this wouldn't happen very often, so +1

Yes this would be nice yet what if you mistake for a button of some sort and then the thread gets locked by mistake.
+1 I would love to have this instead of getting comments that don't need to be there.

This should be added. The only person who can request a thread to be locked is the owner, and they always have to call a staff member. This is actually like a completely logical and useful implementation.

Personally I think this idea wouldn't work out. There is some people who would lock a thread in order to stop opinions that don't agree with theirs (i.e. this thread having so many positive ones, and one negative one, so it would be locked.) It would also prevent certain staff members from commenting on things that they need to, if players lock them. -1

Actually, I Believe staff are allowed to reply to locked threads due to them being Staff
If they are then that is my mistake, I was assuming certain ranks couldn't. :D

but its their thread. if they request for a thread to be locked than the staff member will lock the thread regardless (in my experiences thats how it works). it doesnt matter what the responses are. it is their thread. not the communities.

This is understandable, however it could cause quite the amount of discontent amongst players, which would be a very bad thing.

Imma change my vote to +1

It saves staff's time from dealing with thread lock requests, Staff would lock the thread regardless of the flame war/niceness of the thread due to owner's requests, and it saves up more time for stuff like Questions, Thread Moves (Sometimes), User reports, or AmAs

knowing this community as being "perfect" for 3 years, this wont happen. Even if it does, sorry for the people that disagree but they can basically cry eachother a river. Staff lock threads if the owner requests it no matter what. @Kona can you confirm this next time u get online
