The drawings I do, I'm trying to come up with a technique to do a nose on a 2d face that is shaded to make it look 3D.

The nose is how the top of the nose is shaded in a sideways banana shape because of the lighting. It's hard to explain, but basically, it's a shadow.
 
hahahah it's basically just art created using an application on a computer or a tablet
I create my digital artwork using my teeny lil iPhone

RIGHT
FORCE YOUR EYES CLOSED AND THEN FEEL SKIN ON YOUR NOSE (LIKE THE MIDDLE BIT. IF U DUNNO WHERE, FEEL ALL OF IT. ITS LIKE THE BIT BETWEEN YOUR EYES).

THATS WHERE THE SHADOW COMES FROM, THE SHADOW THEN GOES ON THEIR FRONT/MIDDLE OF THEIR NOSE

The style is nice, but a tip for coloring, don't color multiple directions at once. If you color just one way the whole time it looks a lot neater. Like, if you start coloring from right to left, don't start coloring up to down or vice verse, as it can leave lots of choppy looking spots in the colors. Good job, though!

would an exception be shading techniques such as parallel lines and crosshatching?

My art teacher used to tell me to do that but my arm starts to hurt after a while, I'll have to get out of the habit :p

Wrist or arm?
If arm, try shading with your wrist.

Wait that was a sock I thought it was a sleeve?
