"Good boy, Spot," the young child cheered as his beagle companion fetched the tennis ball previously thrown.
The child had been playing outside with his dog, Spot, for almost an hour. The sun was setting; his parents would start to be worried if he did not return home soon.
"C'mon, Spot; let's go home."
The boy continued down a brick path toward his street in town. The normally busy town square, next to the park where the two friends played, was silent and eerie. The street lamps buzzed a bit as they turned on for the night, providing a warm, yellow light for passersby.
The boy noticed that, as the sky became darker, a light fog began to set in. He was slightly nervous; he knew he would be unable to find his way home if he could not see.
"Spot, hurry. There's fog."
The small beagle bounded ahead, apparently taking notice of the situation.
"Wait! I'm coming, too!" the boy shouted into the dark fog.
The fog was becoming very thick and dark now; the boy could hardly see his hand in front of his face. He called for his friend, but the only answer he received was the sound of the soft wind and the buzzing of the nearby streetlamps, the light of which could barely be seen.
Suddenly, the boy heard a loud, terrified yelp. He cried out to his friend and received cries of pain in return.
"Spot!" the child cried. He sprinted forward until he tripped over a hard object and tumbled to the rough, stony road. His hands begun to bleed; he tried his best to hold back his tears and focus.
He looked behind him, at what he tripped over, and was horrified; he had tripped over the body of his best friend, Spot. The small beagle lay mangled and lifeless on the brick road, a small trail of blood traveling from just below his neck.
The child collapsed to his knees in terror; he had never seen his friend like this before. He called out softly to his best friend, but he received no answer. He cried out in pain; he could no longer hold back his tears.
He continued to cry until he noticed something moving in front of him. Shaking, he stared down at what was once his most precious friend.
What now stood in front of him was something he could never have imagined.
The beast that was once his friend leaped forward, and everything went black.

And that's it! Please let me know what you thought of it below. As I stated above, this is only the TEASER for an upcoming story written by myself. I'm still working on the outline for the main plot, so I can't exactly guarantee when it will come out.
However, I would like you to know that it will be released periodically, one chapter at a time. I will link the previous chapters in each new chapter, and I will also put the links for each chapter (including the teaser) in my forum signature, so you can find each chapter easily.
I may, however, decide to create one main thread and periodically add to it; I haven't quite decided yet. I'll probably place each chapter as a standalone thread because it will bring in more new readers, but we'll see.
Once again, please let me know what you thought of the teaser! I should stop rambling now. I hope you all have a great day!
