Pretty simple. I believe the current limit is 140 characters? I can't even type three sentences with that. What if I wanted to post something important or significant? I think it should be raised significantly, I'm thinking maybe 300 or 400, because as I said, 140 isn't a lot to play with.
 
It was, at some point, 450 characters, I believe, and I’m utterly confused on why it was changed back. I completely agree- it’s very hard to fit in a lot of small comments and restricts some things we can say in one go.

I like this idea. I mean, it's the same amount as on twitter, for a start, and it's really not enough. If you want to post something meaningful or inspiring, you have to keep replying to your post and it's just annoying. It doesn't get the full message across, because not everyone is going to click the post and read the comments. +1

I definitely agree to this, there's been numerous times from the past where people comment below their status to finish what they were saying- it's really not fun to do so, the limit should be dragged up to 500 characters. I definitely don't see a very specific con other than "Long paragraphs" for the status update which too aren't much of a problem other than filling up "New profile posts" area.

This should be added, +1.

I agree with this on a nuclear level, I believe this would benefit a lot for people trying to type messages to explain things but not able to. For example, messages that could explain why they are leaving in full detail and more.

The limit was 560 at one point. It got shut down because apparently it broke something. What it broke? I don't remember. I've been searching for that answer for a while. But such a feature really wouldn't get set back if there wasn't a valid reason.

It broke mentions on profiles if I recall correctly. When they added 560 characters they also added emotes to profiles I think. Maybe they removed those features in hopes it would fix mentions? Who knows..

Mentions are still broken. I tried tagging someone and it deleted it. I forgot to put in a bug report for it whoops
 
I am always trying to quote NF or other artists, and it's basically IMPOSSIBLE. I would for sure say yes to this. +1
 
Great idea! *claps* Whenever I'm trying to write something in detail on my profile, I always have to put it into multiple different posts, or comment under my own post, which gets annoying after awhile. +1
 
It's also quite hard to help people. I was helping someone who asked how to change their forums pfp, and I couldn't explain in detail

They're still broken I believe??
 
300 characters seems like a good number, it'll be helpful quality of life change for the forums. +1
