I crafted the rest of the wooden logs into planks, counting them up to 48 planks. That would just about get me to their island, perhaps a couple of extra I could keep.
The others seemed not to notice as I started placing down the wooden planks once more, but this time, away from centre. I realised, as I was building my bridge, that if I wanted to sneak up on them, I'd have to be quick and get higher. I jumped up, placing some wooden planks below me, and turned around towards their island. I was about the same height as Liv's tree that had not yet been chopped down.
They seemed to both be chatting- not. Arguing, about something.
I realised that they weren't going to notice me building towards them, so I continued placing the wooden planks down. I tried to ignore the void that was staring at me, beckoning me towards it, but I failed miserably. My heart started pumping wildly and my palms began to sweat, making it hard to place the planks.
My eyes widened as I distantly realised I was having a panic attack. I curled up onto a wooden block, my fingers digging into the grooves between each plank. I shut my eyes and whispered some sort of prayer, even though I wasn't religious, praying I wouldn't fall. I was like a leech on skin, I wasn't going to get removed any time soon.
Finally, my heart beat slowed and I opened my eyes, my face a centimetre from the block of wood in front of me.
I mentally rolled my eyes to myself, realising I was being a complete walnut, and continued placing the rest of the blocks.
Surprisingly, none of the other players including Liv and Emo realised what I was doing. This was good news for me, and bad for them, I grinned to myself.
I placed the last plank, and smiled; I was right in front of their tree, just enough blocks to make it there.
I jumped onto the tree, it swaying from side to side for a second, before I gained enough balance. The tree was a palm tree, so I didn't have a branch to hold onto at the top, making me clench the wide, green leaves as hard as possible.
I swished the leaves to the side and gazed to the island below, towards the oblivious couple.
They seemed to be bickering about something, Liv's always red face seemed to have gone a shade darker and Emo's hands were clenched.
"I do NOT like her!" He grit through his teeth.
"Then why do you keep playing with her?!" Liv snapped, kicking her foot in the dirt.
"Because we're friends!" He shouted back.
She laughed sarcastically, "Friends?!"
Emo nodded, "Why do you even care?! I thought you didn't like me!"
"I don't!" She hollered.
"Good!" He screamed. "I don't like you back anyway… you… you… you dirty mailbox!"
I suppressed a giggle, covering my mouth with my hand. This was so much better than any romcom… I just wished I had popcorn…
"Yeah well if you feel that way maybe you should go back to your island!" Liv shouted.
"Maybe I will!" He argued.
Liv rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, you keep rolling your eyes. Maybe you'll find a brain back there."
Liv gasped, opening her mouth to retort but was interrupted by a slab of meat falling onto her head.
"Beef beef beef" I chanted, throwing my beef onto their heads.
