server down?

I just got home from school and I tried to get on the server and I get

"error while connecting to the server, are they down?" plz help me

This happens sometimes. Check https://help.mojang.com and check if your Authentication Service and Multiplayer Session service is red. That probably means it's down.

Yesterday it was down, but is now fixed.
