Ok i am bored and i decided that it would be a cool idea to make a thread about how the ranking system works in murder- and how to best rank up. I have a bit of experience in this system, as I am currently... 45? 44? somewhere in that area. Im looking to get into the top 25 or so, but anyways. Some warnings. If you have been playing murder for a long time (a few months or a very active few weeks), the ranking system will be much harder to climb. The server determines your rank in part, but not entirely, based on your win loss ratio, meaning if you started and had a bad streak, getting back into it will help, although not by as much as you may hope. Also I know nothing for sure about any of this. I could be wrong about certain things, but these are the things that I have picked up from playing the game. And it is a bit more complicated than simply playing the game often.

So its pretty obvious that if you want to be a higher rank you are going to want to do good in games. This could be as simple as surviving as a bystander in fact. Living in general (except murderer running out of time) will give you a better rank. However, it isnt by a lot, and following this idea for all games will over time, as said earlier, make it harder to get ahead since you would have a lot of games under your belt. However, being the player to kill the murderer can give a big boost in your rank, as you could assume. Now here is where the worrying thing can come into play. If you are planning on going for a higher rank, you want to try all you can to not get killed. Because even if the murderer is killed after you die, your death will actually LOWER your rank. As i said above, the ranking system is based on ratios. So when you die, it is considered a loss, meaning your rank in turn will be lower as a result. For newer players this isnt much of a problem, since one win as a bystander or murderer will get them back into shooting up the ranks. However, it can affect you if you arent aware of it, and the deaths start racking up.

But all of that is shadowed by the murderer stats. Since you become the murderer less often, your murderer win death ratio is much less affected by lots of experience. And, to my knowledge, this ratio is given as much value as your bystander one in considering your rank. So in other words. NO PRESSURE. As the murderer, if you kill every bystander and win it will be a big help in getting your rank up. However, losing as the murderer can have the same if not worse of an effect, bringing your win death ratio down by a lot.

So trying to go for a high rank can be hard, and it is really hard for experienced players, since they have so many games played that winning as a murderer or a bystander hardly affects their win loss ratio. Which is why I personally think an option to reset your stats completely is not the worst idea, since it could give good players with just too much experience a chance to climb the leaderboard, instead of having to like get an alt or something. But there is always the worry of people accidentally using it, although i dont think it should be an option shown off to everyone. Maybe make a command that you dont announce, so people who care enough can do it? Idk, just an idea.

Anyways thats what I know about the ranking system. Granted some of my thoughts may be wrong, although I dont believe so. There is the possibility of the number of games playing a variable into your rank as well, so like tryhard new players dont win 1 game and be the best player. But otherwise these are the main statistics you can control through gameplay, so hopefully that helps anyone..? Idk i thought it would be cool to share. Anyways best of luck to anyone trying to go for high ranks, trust me it is harder than you may think lol.

oh I didn't even know that dying could make your rank percentage lower... I'll try to die less. That sucks...

Well, dying less isnt always easy xD but overall you get more from winning as the murderer and killing the murderer than you lose in the opposite situation. So doing strategies like say, camping or something as a bystander wont be worth it because you wont get much and its almost worth dying and getting a win the next game because it will counteract that better.

I feel like the murderer has it so easy if he plays the game smart. Since it's easy to win unless you have your sword out and you're running around like a maniac lol. It's very difficult to get the rank percentage up. I check after every game and usually it stays the same or goes up by 1%
