Maria stared at the moon from the apartment balcony. She had just washed her ginger hair, which was now brown from the water. Her brown eyes glowed, full of thought. She was thinking. "Why isnt he home yet? For once i was home, and hes not..." Maria thoughts rushed asking more questions about why he wasnt home.
Suddenly the apartment door creaked open. James walked in. Clearly tired, sweat was visable on the front of his forhead, his brown hair looking damp. His sad blue eyes looked up to Maria. He knew what was coming. "For god sake where were you? You promised you'd be home for once. This once. James you're not even trying!" Maria was still thinking and she was getting more inquisitive as he stood silent staring at her. "I know you're mad but something came up at work. You know how it is Maria. I cant always be there." James told Maria, staring into her eyes as if he was reading her mind. He came over and leaned in to give her a kiss. Maria avoided it. She wasnt happy. "James, you had promised me tonight!" Maria shot at him. "You cant say much yourself Mariah. You always have no time for me." James huffed. Maria looked at her feet. She knew it was true. But deep down in her heart, she felt betrayed. They had worked out this night between them. And for some reason, he dodged it. She knew it had nothing to do with work. As far as she was concerned, James didnt ever get held up that long. "James, we've been together for a year almost. We seem to make no effort. Why cant we? You never get held up that long. I dont either. So why?" Maria looked up sadly at him as she finished her mini speach. "I dont know anymore Maria... we should get some sleep. Night i guess..." James stopped and paused. He knew he hurt Maria. He was just as upset as he was. But Maria wasnt allowed to know his secret.
Maria fell asleep instantly. James tossed and turned all night. He couldnt sleep. "Maybe i should leave. Go mess around..." James thought. He sat up straight and carefully tip toed towards the suit case he left jn the corner of the room while coming in. In it he pulled out a costume. It had a black skinny agent styled suit. It had the logo inscribed where his chest area would be. It spelt out: NM. He sighed. He felt so wrong. He pulled out the white mask. The mask had a skull type texture to it. The mask was designed in patterns and words. In front of where his left eye should be the word said: Slender. The mask had a moon with a dark red sky around it in the top left corner of the mask. The mask was very detailed. Each detail was delicate and perfect. He had a sort of roller skate type of shoe to go with and a moon patterened cape. He felt bad about all of this. He didnt feel bad about what he was about to do, but he felt bad about the lies he told Maria. He felt cold at the idea of him possibly hurting Maria while in this form. He shook his head and got those thoughts out of his mind. He then slowly walked towards the balcony and dived off, dressed in costume. Suddenly he stopped mid-air and glided towards the ground. He whispered as he disappeared into the night streets... "Nightmoon Is Back".
For those wondering what this is, let me explain. So Artists In Our Own Way is a lot of stress. People keep asking for it, and i know they want the next chapter. But I've been put under a lot of pressure recently and wanted to launch an old book i wrote. It only had 1 chapter because of personal issues going on. The book is just going to be a small story, with long chapters. This is mostly to help boost my creative writing skills and just to play around, thus why i did not ask people to sign up to be characters. So enjoy whatever this turns into, Artistis In Our Own Way is on hold until i feel i should write more, and when daily stress begins wearing off. ❤
