Apparently here.
So I have seen this many times, and my idea for staff to be disguised... well... nothing happened to it... it just went cold...

So here is my next idea, to not publicly shout out that there is a hiding staff member. Aka to make it against the rules to do so. I could only imagine how frustrating it could be to be undercover, trying to ensure the well being of the server while incognito, and then all of the sudden. "Oh hey, there is a staff member online in this server right now, and they are (Insert staff name here.)"

Even if it isn't added as a rule legitimately, come on, have some respect for the sneaking staff members.

Maybe the ability to hide them from player's friends list as offline while disguised, instead of giving away where they are to people who may call them out.

tldr; To make calling out staff that are disguised as defaults (maybe vanished staff that are not disclosing that they are present too) against the rules, maybe under the "Use common sense" clause, or to give hidden staff members the respectable right to be hidden while moderating.

I disagree with this idea actually.
I think making it an actual rule is a little bit durastic, it's unecessary to not allow players to mention a staff name in chat because they see them online, I think the only reason players do so it to talk to them. Some players talk to another to find a staff because maybe they were griefed, or maybe there's a hacker.
THOUGH, I do believe Staff should be able to go into cognitive mode such as /v in some situation such as; hackers in a lobby. I'm not saying some staff would abuse this command, but I sure hope they don't only do this to hide from players, because I do notice a lot of players look up to staff, and always talk to them.
Overall I'm teaming neutral +0

This is a good idea, but maybe a /nick would help, so they could nick as some random username, so they can still be in the game/lobby while observing someone, and not be notice, so +1

Okay the one problem I see with this, what if a staff member diguises as someone that would dislike that.
/nick shows a "~" infront for example, if I were to do /nick Tea it would show up as; ~Tea

I notice staff members are able to take away their staff rank & server rank to catch hackers and players who are breaking the rules.

I don't see a need for this.
Well not really, there could be a plugin that removes the "~" as some servers have that

+1 I used to do this a lot on my old server

Actually I like this idea, I think it might be beneficial for the network as being a staff member myself players have intentionally pointed out who I am and my rank.

This is a good idea. I will discuss it further with other staff members.

Whenever staff are in /hiderank and lets say someone on their friend list joins them. The person who joined the staff would say something like this. "Dizzeh, where did your Mod rank go?" (Using Dizzeh as example) and then it would blow away Dizzeh's cover and she might need to send another staff to spec the rule breaker

Edit: Wait, Dizzeh, HOW DID YOU FIND THIS! I DIDN'T EVEN TAG YOU!

between the two ideas I feel it's better for staff to be able to disguise as players instead of it being against the rules to ask a question on why their staff rank is gone.

+1 For Disguising
-1 For making it a rule not to ask questions

My one worry was the "~" in front of the nickname, but if it's possible for that to be removed, then it's a great idea.

Dizzeh knows everything.

Anywho, I agree with the rest. 1+

It's more than possible. One of the popular stock plugins (that PZ does not seem to use) already enables this, so PZ could definitely pull that off.
