All right, I'm copying this from starminecraftgal:
"You just need Skype to be added to the group staff chat, you will not be called, it's just messages
You don't need to add anyone if you don't wish to, you'll need to add someone so they can add you to staff chat, but you can always remove them if you don't feel comfortable having people as contacts.
As for what people can see, if they're not on your contact list they can basically only see your username, display name and country."
