Once you get VIP, it will take a while for it to show up on your profile.
Also, may take around 2 hours for it to show in-game.

I think he means like he can't log on to the server itself, correct me if I'm wrong.

Gee, I read that wrong.
Try to re-input the server IP, and you should be good.
It always works for me
