After all the crazy mishaps that have hit Eve's family, she finally believes it is all over. If only she knew what would come in the next few hours. As she was getting ready for the day, with no lights since it was to early for them to be turned on, she began thinking of all the events that had happened. Her house was almost burned down, an assassin was placed on her father and the in the mists of all this, her little died from some unknown disease. She had just finished putting her long brown hair into pigtails. She reached around her dark room to find her face scarf, everyone had to wear one, the king's rule, yet no one knew why. Since it was too early to be moving around, Evie went back to bed, with her scarf still covering her face.
Eve awoke on a stretcher, being carried out of her house.
"Let me go!" She shouted.
"Oh so we have an awake one," said one of the nurses carrying her out.
"Well then, we'll just have to knock her out," said the other.
"Wait, wha-" Eve began, but soon stopped because of the knock out gas she had been given.
Eve was in and out of conscience, she over heard one important conversation between two nurses.
"If she is to still be alive, she will most likely have no family to go back to, unless her father some how survives."
"Yes, but she is a very strong girl, so I have no doubt about her surviving, but her father on the other hand is least likely to survive."
Eve heard those words before drifting off again. She had dreams of what her life would be like without any of her family. She dreamed of how it would be just her and her father living together, with no care in the world. But those dreams were soon to vanish, there could be nothing Eve could do to save her father, and that she would be forever alone, with no one to love. As these thoughts begin to think in, Eve lost all hope of ever seeing her family again.
"Wake up Eve," It was a mysterious voice she had never heard before," It's time to get up Eve."
Eve rolled onto her other side, wanting to ignore everyone and everything. She had heard she might lose her entire family and she didn't want to deal with all that right now.
"Go away!" She shouted, shoving her face into a pillow.
"I can't go away until you listen to what I have to say, and it's quite important if you ask me."
"Fine," Eve said, sitting up and pulled her hair back into pigtails,"What in the world do you want."
"It's about your family," the man began,"at the moment your father is being treated for 3rd degree burns, he has been doing well so far, but we are not quite sure if he will live yet. And about the rest of your family, they all died on the way here, and well if your father doesn't live, you'll become an orphan.
"An orphan! I'm 15, I don't think I need to be an orphan. I can take care of myself at this point!" She shouted back, holding up tears that were welling up in her eyes.
"Well by law you must become an orphan, but from what I heard so far, your father has a fifty-fifty chance of surviving."
"Well then, I hope he survives because there is no way I will be an orphan. Now if that is all then you can leave me be, I'm not in the mood to see anyone right now, so scram!" Eve responded, not letting the man have a choice to respond, she got up and left the room.
"She can't go on living life like that. Even if she thinks she can," the man sighed, getting up from the chair and leaving the room as well.
Eve had just hidden around the corner, as soon as the man made the final turn out of the room, she snuck out. She moved as swiftly as she could, without making a noise, she had to see her father, even if it was the last time she did. She stopped as a doctor came out of a room. She just realized she didn't have her scarf on her face, she quickly pulled it from her neck to cover her mouth and nose. As soon as the doctor was out of sight, Eve made a dash for it, no longer caring if she got caught, all that mattered was that she found the room her father was in.
Eve made one final turn into the burns center. She found the room where they were keeping the people with 3rd degree burns, ignoring the nurses who were yelling at her. She looked at all the names that were at the ends of the beds, until she found her fathers name.
"Dad is that you, please tell me thats you!" Eve frantically screamed.
At this point nurses were grabbing her arms, trying to pull her away from her father's bed.
"No, I must see him!" She shouted.
There were ten nurses now, they were still trying to pull her away, finally her gripped as loosened and she was knocked out and brought back to her bed.
Eve woke up, only to see the man next to her bed again.
"I thought I told you to scram," She told him.
"Yes, yes, I know, but I have some great news," He began,"Your father is in recovery as we speak, he is certain to survive."
"Well can I go see him?" Eve questioned.
"Well after what you just pulled in the burns center, no you cannot, but he should be fully recovered in about twelve hours."
"Ugh, how long has he been out since the operation?"
"It's been a day," the man replied.
"A day! You mean to tell me that I have been knocked out for an entire day!"
"Yes, they had to use quite a bit of knock out gas on you so you wouldn't be waking up and attempting that stunt you pulled again. Now I must be on my way, you will see me again in twelve hours, and then you will never see me again."
"Just what I needed," Eve mumbled.
"What was that? Ah, never mind I must be going."
Eve awoke on a stretcher, being carried out of her house.
