You can literally eat people.
That's not child friendly.
I have to agree with you to a certain perspective yeah, it isn’t the friendliest nor a great example.
I’d recommend taking away the ability to eat players but instead change it to a certain food type. It could be something like /eat cookie. A con to this would be players abusing it for inappropriate uses. This can be avoided by limiting certain commands like /eat <choice 1-4> or something relative to that level.
Overall, I agree with the suggestion- it can make players uncomfortable to a specific degree.
Yeah, that'd be really cool, actually.
Seems to me like you're just misconstruing it.
I would have made a joke about you having a dirty mind or something, but I'll be honest - I probably thought about the same thing you did after you said it's not child friendly. But, yeah, it's not explicitly stating anything. It's an emote.
tbh I just find this emote extremely strange, but I do agree with you.
"Person 1 ate person 2"
It doesn't take a dirty mind to see what's wrong with that.
If I were to guess it was originally meant to be like one of those pop tart or cereal eating each other commercials. Although it still is pretty contriversional and if we do regain the same player base as before ,13-16 ,I wouldn't be surprised if people used it out of original context.
So that's a plus +1 from me
Firstly I'd like to thank you for the suggestion, it's very much appreciated.
Honestly, I would have to agree with you, for the following reasons:
➥ Many people can interpret this wrongly
Even though this emote hasn't been around that long, it's rather clear players have been interpreting this otherwise, I mean it's even evident in this thread. No doubt some people will use this in poor context. Although we can deal with those users who use the emote wrongly, it could easily be avoided if we were to change the emote slightly to avoid it coming across as inappropriate altogether. The fact so many people already have found this inappropriate is a bit a of a signal players aren't interpreting it how it's intended.
➥ It's somewhat controversial
As mentioned by TimeLord, this is actually a bit of a controversy at the moment. I mean topics which are surrounded with negative controversy on the network are avoided altogether, pretty much. People are multiple sides and it causes conflict, as well as the fact it can result in even more people interpreting the emote incorrectly and just spreading the wrong idea to younger and even older players. People will and probably have used this emote outside its original context.
[ ? ] Is there alternatives?
Of course there are, for example, it could be changed to something like this:
/eat ➤ [User] eats a muffin.
/eat [User] ➤ [User] steals and eats [User]'s muffin!
Practically what lovely Twixela has mentioned.
✧ Taking into consideration, /lick
Although what I've said is more in favour of the suggestion, I feel its necessary to take into consideration that the lick emote can be interpreted in an incredibly similar way. It was interpreted the same way as how /eat is interpreted now. It eventually died down and people rarely react this way to the emote, or at least publically.
➤ However, I must admit, this one is a bit more controversial on the network, especially at the moment. The reaction itself is a bit bigger too, I've already been messaged on multiple occasions asking why this emote was implemented. Honestly, I feel it's a lot easier for people to mistake this one for an inappropriate feature, I mean in recent times, I've seen this stuff outside the network used inappropriately and it's fairly clear it's not just playful banter. I know it's certainly not intended in any way on here, however when it's been brought up so much as inappropriate around other places, it's not hard for many people to have their mind go down a gutter. Not everyone is like this, but based off the reactions, it's clear a lot of people have seen it this way.
Overall, I'm going to have to give this a +1, unless a stronger opinion arises, for the reasons I've stated above.
Instead of deleting it as a whole we should edit it/create an alternative for it. A recent thread was just made which I believe could be a good alternative for this emote. You can find the thread here.
