Rejected A freeze ray

Apparently here.
This would be a rare powerup for only the taggers in freeze tag (one in every 5 games or something?) That would essentially act like a murder gun, but instead of shooting the murderer, it shoots a blast of cold air that freezes the player that is hit.

So essentially the tagger gets the powerup (Represented as an arrow here)

Then the item is removed from the tagger's inventory, and the poor free user is marked as freezing

The intended functionality of this idea is to:

  • Catch those people who are seemingly way too good at running away
or
  • Shoot down people hiding in trees or on steep hills

It would be cool yet this would make surviving as free extremely hard as it is already. Simply use a speed boost or jump boost if you can get them. Yet if you still want this to be added I would suggest adding a benefit to the free as well to make it a little bit better. Even then I might not like the idea due to there being too much power on both sides.

If your having trouble then try to get some easy picked players and then focus on that one player. The one reason I will never agree to this is simply the goal of the game is to hide in places yet some such as me know most of the places or all. Which if they get tagged or start as the tagger, then they can dimly check all spots and once they locate the player they can simply use this ability and bam boom it is too simple and easy and that one free person will have no chance and simply uneventful and dull.

That is why I made it so rare, to account for how powerful it is. It honestly will probably go the way of the aura powerup if implimented, but lets be honest, how many people are reasonably using the jump boosts when it's ripped out of your grasps? I mean, not everyone just wastes the boost, but it's unfortunately frequent.

I intended to place powerups for free players too, but A: I had balance issues with the ideas, and B: I don't want to stack them all on one, as that can cause issues for the devs in knowing what ideas people support- because realistically speaking they won't look through every post for context.

Just because it will be rare will not meant it can't be frequent for a game. Yes people wait boosts that is part of the game such as randoming in murder. Posting multiable threads will just cloud the page of ideas. Making a nice thread that can easily have 3 ideas on it or more. I am simply saying it is nice and all they it is way too over power the free person should have at least a little chance (10% ish). As stated above why I truly don't like the idea.

I mean, a random chance scenario would be more fair to the free person- but maybe it's like a 25% hit rate, with the story being that the gun is unstable?
 
The game is based on tag, if you had guns in tag (a game where you have to physically tag people) then that defeats the object of the game and makes it far too easy for taggers to win. Not every game needs guns.

Yea that sounds better. +1
By unstable you mean it has a low chance of hitting a player and spawns rarely I like it!

But guns are cool :(
